midiDAC - Analog Devices AD712

Hi,

can someone recommend a substitute part for the AD712 in the midiDAC? they seem to be unavailable until january 2019.
alternatively if someone wanted to sell me one?

Any decent dual FET op-amp can be used. I think even a TL072ACP will work in there. So alternatives could be TLE2072ACP or LF412ACN. The latter would be my first choice to try.

Can i assume the same applies to VRG ?

S&H : LF398N obsolete ,LF398N/NOPB is still avail.

fyi LF398N is obsolete and not stocked at mouser or farnell.
LF398N/NOPB is still available.

can Tony confirm this is in spec.

I think you meant this to have a new thread. But the LF398N/NOPB is perfectly fine. The two parts are functionally identical with the NOPB suffix being added to say that it is the RoHS friendly version, that is, no lead or no Pb.

It is odd that some manufacturers and suppliers add the NOPB suffix while others do not. Ultimately any part that is RoHS, and virtually all new parts being sold today are, will have no lead (or cadmium).

I'll add a note to the Construction Guide to highlight this though.

Yes. The VRG can use any decent dual FET op-amp in place of the AD712.

I have tried the TLE2072ACP and the LF412ACN in place of the AD712 in the mididac and they work fine.
