euro dvco, cota thoughts on t18 vs Song Huey?

Post by Pav » Mon Nov 18, 2019 11:25 am

Hi,

just preparing a Thonk cart for dvco-euro and cota-euro

I have the Song Huey 9mm Tall Trimmer style knobs in existing modules like Mutable Plaits, Stages and Intellijel uVCA.

Pros seem to be they claim to be drop in compatible 9mm , 15k lifecycle and a few pennies cheaper, no knob required.. Cons: plastic shaft and ??

Im only thinking of replacing the T18s.

diameter of hole in the panel templates is 7.1mm
diameter of shaft 6mm ( i measured one as datasheet isnt that clear).

Can i just use personal preference .. and is it worth reducing the hole diameter in template a couple of mm ?

They won't fit the PCB. I tried and the two solder tabs are too wide for my PCBs. I like to have the ordinary pots held tightly even before you solder and this means that the slightly wider tabs on the trimmer pots won't fit into the board. You could drill them out a bit to widen them...
Cons: plastic shaft and...
personally I think they feel cheap. And you can't get them in groovy colours.

It might be worth knocking it down to 6.5mm.
