i am tearing my hair out! the Doepfer A-199 reverb has two RCA cables that go out the back and into a reverb tank. I cut the cables and stripped them putting the correct ends with the correct reverb tank ins and outs and now it's not working ... i don't know what to do?! very frustrating

So are you saying you cut the cables (to route them through a panel or something), and re-connected them to the Doepfer standard tank (presumably the little Belton one), or have you attempted to attach a larger spring line or something??

Tim

Try it with the smaller tank again to verify that your wiring etc is correct. If it is then you can troubleshoot from there.

Hey man I'm thinking of doing this exact thing. If you wouldn't mind, some sound samples would be much appreciated!

Also, I' played out with my a-199 for the first time last night. I do really loud, bass heavy noise and it fed back like a bitch. Anyone else have this problem?

I haven't played live yet with mine but maybe a "tank bag" would help? Go here and do a search on Tank Bag:

Out of interest, what is the spec of the larger tank that you have hooked up?
