i have the fixins' for another 3U for my rack and more modules than will fit, so i'm going to have to swap out as needed...i have a set of Vector rails, but tbh i find them more of a pita to deal with than is worth it...anyone know where to get two threaded rails? i could trade the Vectors and any remaining nuts if someone is interested as well...

thanks for your time...

got two sets of those to spare, but no spare rails to put the strips in (they're loose) - sorry, man.

d'oh! obviously i'm confused...i have one Doepfer subrack w/ threaded rails i bought a long time ago and one subrack i put together with Vector rails...i assumed that threaded rails can be used instead of the Vectors and be installed in a similar fashion (secured to rack ears on either side with screws), but seems i have no real clue... i've never had the Doepfer rack apart enough to know how it is constructed...

The rails aren't actually threaded, there is an insert that slips into the end of the rail that has the threads. It is possible that Wetterberg's inserts would fit into your Vector rails, if the slot in the rail is the same size as what he has.

my main issue is it's sort of a pain to keep swapping out mods with the Vector sliding nuts, not so bad when it's a "permanent" setup...i'm going to take a closer look at my Doepfer rack and see if i can figure it out a little better...

thanks for your help either way boys thumbs up

The trick with the nuts is to throw in lots of extra nuts. Try putting in 40 or so nuts per rail, and leave a few nuts on either side of each module you stick in. That way if you take the module out and put in different sized modules, there's always lots of extra nuts.

most definitely - you don't want to EVER just have the amount of nuts you need - if you have lots then you can do cool stuff like, reverse the order of two modules just by taking one out, loosening the other, sliding it over and putting in the first one. MUCH quicker than with threaded rails, too.
