One more in my lil' series of BBD-rape, this one is interesting, I used an audio-range pulse wave to *clock* the bbd, so as to do some bit-crushing business.

one long take, cut into 6 precise bits, layered and panned.
lots of live repatching, manual tweaking and coercion of the howl.

PS that clock noise is starting to grow on me, hehe.
PPS: just noticed that the bbd has a CV *out*? WTF? I need to read up on that!  |

it's to control a filter, as the clock decreases it shuts down the filter to reduce clock noise...i tried running a couple filters in series (for a steeper cutoff), didn't work that great for me...but i was trying to get clean "echo", don't think it really works that great (i have the same BBD 2048 as you i believe)...my thoughts are to use it for what it's good for: noisy shit! |

I'd like to hear at least part of the single layer live pass.
It's just an audio rate (LFO?) pulse wave into the clock
input? Lots of feedback? |

I will gladly provide you with that - as I said the track is just a harmonica-pile of a long recording (I like doing those)
Patch was:
106-1 xtreme filter, selfoscillating and slightly distorted internally. Frequency Modulated by one envelope of the 143-1, and sent into the BBD audio in.
ALL envelopes(mix out) modulating the 110 Standard VCO, which in turn clocked the bbd.
So:
143-1 to 106-1 and 110
110 to 188-1
188-1 to computah.

Hey,
I got my A-143-1 yesterday and I'm just starting to mess with it.
A very powerful tool indeed! Wetterberg, I hooked a patch sort of
like you described and got different but awesome results. I'll post some
samps if you'd like. You had mentioned something about also using it as
an oscillator. I noticed the highest note I could get in LFO mode was pretty low. Any special trick or mod for that? How about getting VC to it
to control pitch? I'm not looking for accurate tracking or anything.
Anyway I'll be sure to waste plenty of time with this set up |

| To use it as an oscillator: Take the EoA of one and plug it into the trigger of another. Plug the second's EoA into the first's trigger. Attack/decay knobs on both control the pitch. The range is a bit odd in this technique, so the A/D settings should be just slightly above fully CCW. Sound comes from either envelope's Env Out. No VC control. |
