I've booked my room for this event, so I look forward to meeting some of you there, with the Jubilee. Maybe Tony will cast an ear over my filters, not quite sure I have the tuning set quite right.

I expect to be there as usual, having attended the last however many years. And I'm also hoping to be able to build something new for this year, having missed doing so last!

Details/room booking for those who don't know them are here:
http://www.njohnson.co.uk/SDIY/roombooking.html
Some photos from last years event (and previous years):
http://www.diy.synth.net/glry/main.php?g2_itemId=1082

It might also be better to move this to 'Music Tech DIY', it will probably get a bigger audience there... (any moderators watching, Paul, Sandy?)

With respect Sandy I'd rather it wasn't moved - my target audience is the Oakley mob very frustrating

Any chance you could put it back where I originally posted - the essence of the message is to say that my oakley will be at the event - this is primarily of interest to the Oakley forum.

Sorry Godric, I didn't mean to steal your thunder oops. But I'm certain you'll get greater coverage in the DIY thread, and if you bring that beauty to Cambridge, you're going to need to plasticoat it or something, as there will be people aplenty drooling all over it! (You could link to this thread from the one with all the pictures in it?)

No, they are Paul Maddox's - he is another regular at the event, and indeed I think he helps Neil Johnson out with some of the organisation.

I think they are probably his own design - here is his website, but I couldn't find them on there after a quick scan:

Lots of like-minded synth geeks shooting the breeze, checking out the fruits of each other's labours, tweaking knobs, patching and poking around, and generally making all manner of weird noises. Personally I'm amazed that some people achieve so much: it often makes me wish I could do more throughout the year, and it always inspires and fires me up to try harder for next year!

Yes, Tom does some of the digital design work for Bruce. Nice modules.

I should be at Cambridge too - I haven't missed one yet - and it was due to the very first Synth-DIY all those years ago that I started doing all this modular malarkey.

Colin Fraser will be coming along too and no doubt he will be bringing along a Cirklon sequencer.

It's peanut butter jelly time!

And I am seriously thinking about not having a curry on both nights this year.

Am I heck... ambulance

I understand that Paul (krisp1) will be parking his sequencers we're not worthy near to the Jubilee so we can put them both through their paces.

Looking forward to that - it's a big old lump to control with just one kbd otherwise.

Hi All,

my flight is scheduled to arrive at 16:30 on Luton Airport.

I just checked the NatExpress schedule and it all appears a bit late.
(besides those coaches are better than British Rail but also have to fight the traffic and therefore are often delayed)
Are there other options to get to Cambridge or is anyone passing by close enough to give me a lift?

Thanks, Michael.

Hi Michael,
Well if it weren't for a change of plan I made about a week ago I could easily have swung south and made that, but I'm now staying in London on Friday night. But great to hear that you are now going to make it!

Thanks for replying, Tim!
Just talked to Paul D., who kindly helped me out: BR don't offer a direct train to Cambridge. So it appears I'd need NatExpress.
Would be ok if there wasn't this 70 minute waiting. not this shit again

Just about managed to get my offering together - it is only on plugboard, but at least it is making noise (and modifying it - a filter!).

I tried to take this week off to try and get some things ready, but lost a day and a half to work and I'm now seriously behind. Dead Banana MY ASS IS BLEEDING

Should get some new bits working, but there may be some more DIY at Synth-DIY again. That is if I can stay away from too much Guinness ftw! .

If things go to plan, I hope to get to Cambridge between 3 and 4 PM, I might even get there before you.

I've treated myself to a nice little folding sack truck this year, though there will still be some crates - how many will depend on when I pack tomorrow. I remember last year as well very frustrating

I wish I was that lucky. I'm still doing metalwork for front panels and the Spectrum. Should get some of the modules working though, hopefully all of the Oakley bits.

Hi Godric,

Doors to the music room usually open about 10:00 on Saturday morning. Most people staying over will be in the breakfast room (J8) before that.

There has been Wifi for the last couple of years which has been useable in the music room but patchy elsewhere.

If you're arriving between 7 & 8 on Fri evening, then you might find bodies a bit scarce on the ground...pub...curry.. Guinness ftw! You get the idea. But we'll all be straggling back by about 9:00.

Look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Cheers

Andy

That would be telling. evil

What, within reason, would you like it to do? I'm hoping it does what a lot of people have been asking it to do.

Shoot eel-powered sex from the jacks? hmmm..... No, I have one of these modules - but without the switches - and I know it does that already...
