wow these two were meant for each other... taking four differently-phased sines from the mankato into the AFG's four 'waveform animation' CV inputs....
using the big knob on the mankato to molest the afg... WOW
i'll post a plucky clip i'm recording now in the 'your tunes here' subforum a bit later _________________ "I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down." |

my pleasure - and i mean it
thank YOU for making it!
i'm pretty much addicted to the thing now, it's coming in as a modulation source (and hardly ever a filter even though it sounds great) in pretty much every patch i make these days. really nice. throw a little attenuated lfo into the control input and those phased sines start dancing around a bit....modulo magic 8) _________________ "I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down." |

I just finished mine and It totally kicks ass in all regards. In fact, I'm starting to wish I built 2; one as a 4 phase VCO and the other as a 4 phase filter instead of a single 8 phase everything. _________________ It was only a hundred miles or so to the ice caverns, and the second day, when we were lying out under the blistering sun-thing he had materialized, he sent down some manna. verrry nice indeed
I had been imagining that patch when I first got my AFG (with my imaginary Mankato) – mostly use my Doepfer Quad AD to modulate the AFG – but it takes some fiddling to get the modulation sounding smooth. The fact that the Mankato goes from sub to super audio range would def help with this I would think.
Well, its still on the list. Now I just need to have some money again!! Totally skint atm!!
Cheers for posting. _________________ Elemental on SoundCloud |

I'm curious now, just how low in frequency can the Mankato go before it stops self-oscillating?
In other words, using it as an LFO, what's (roughly) the low end of the range? _________________ dress yourself for the public. you now must exit your home and acquire a dental mirror and lubrication!

i dunno, but really, really slow.
just did a tiny unscientific test, i have it running about 1 cycle per minute right now
and it'll go lower. _________________ "I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down." |

the low range of the stg/mank is measured in minutes per cycle. I got too bored to count actually.
tip: if you build one just jumper over the regen trim. there is no need to calibrate, as having a perfect sine at the six db output is less important than full range in self resonance.
also I really think all 8 outs are necessary because part of this thing's power is being able to patch external feedback loops, and the neg outs are pretty handy for that. |

oh sweet baby jesus That's it, I'm sold.
I have a very short list of modules that I'm permanently reserving space for and the Mankato just made that list. _________________ dress yourself for the public. you now must exit your home and acquire a dental mirror and lubrication!
