Hey,
My head is still buzzing, but I am pretty sure I just ordered my first Wiard 300 modules.
I chose one of each, VCO, Borg, Wogglebug, Sequantizer, Mixolator and Envelator. I reckon this gives a great variety and will function as a closed system (if needed to).
Is there something I should change here? I already have a fairly extensive frac-setup that could be patched in, but want to keep this thing kind-of self-contained.
Any input welcome.
Oh, and

Based on my original quotation, which was for 3 modules, 2-3 months. With the full rack, she said to expect a but longer, but I don't think anything is certain yet.
They've priced the modules very nicely. I've always just written them off, because of being way too expensive. Now, they are in the might-be-able-to-stretch-to-category, which probably is the more dangerous of the two.
Thinking along similar lines? |

| I am getting an 8 module system but if i was restricted to 6 id get the system you have stated but i would swap the VCO for a waveform city. Offers most of the features of the VCO but with more different functions. |

| Yeah, but I've already got 1 (+1 in kit form) frac Miniwave, which, I gather is fairly similar? |

Yep, I am thinking about getting the same as you except a Waveform city instead of the VCO.
It sounds like you get a bit more than the standard VCO, plus I currently have no wavetable osc'c so Im interested in adding one to the setup.
I'm thinking about a JAG too.
With a 6 module system, do you get a rack with it?
I'm going to try out SandyB's setup first before I make the order. _________________ http://boxemissions.tumblr.com/

i've been fantasising about just the same thing too.
i'd go for exactly the system you specified. how much would that all come to? i have a wiard 310 controller that might sit nicely underneath it.
i'd not go for the waveform city, as i had a blacet miniwave for many years and never clicked with it. _________________ Hermetech Mastering | Discogs | SoundCloud | Bandcamp | Facebook | Pathmusick |

It's about $5k or thereabouts for a 6 module system.
Very competitive when compared with a serge animal or 4/5 module system buchla.
Even in comparison with top end eurorack, the wiard is very good value. |

congrats!!! wish I had the scratch to get in on this. I don't have any hands-on experience with the 300 series, but I think your module selection is spot-on.
I hope you enjoy it! _________________ WTB: Miniwave Vowels & GR-New ROMs

Where the WFC has a serious advantage over the MiniWave is that it is also a perfectly capable, high quality analog oscillator in addition to the wavetable stuff. You don't get PWM; but you get Square, Saw, and Sine outs, plus 3 FM inputs, one of them linear.
Both oscs have the AR env and VCA. The Classic VCO has PWM and the Random output; the WFC has all of the wavetable action. If you're only going to have a single Osc, then the MARF-like functions of the WFC will be harder to exploit, but then you realize that you can pull a drone osc from the Borg LFOs or from an Envelator in Cycle mode and the WFC starts to make a lot of sense. |

Hmm. I completely didn't think of the analogue part of the WFC. Sort of ruled it out by default because of the MW. Looks like I may have to change my order. Thanks!

But if the WC's advantages are that is has the analog oscillator in it, but you already have a MiniWave, wouldn't it still be better to get the analog VCO? Then you have both, and the extra features of the VCO. _________________ I, Parasite | Synth fuckery on Soundcloud

This is why I suggested the Waveform City. If you want a self contained system I'd much rather have more options. Within the wavetables you have all kinds of morphs, one of which is PW, there are quantizer functions and noise waveforms in there plus all the analogue outs. |

True. If it's all about using it standalone (although Wiard Frac or Euro stuff should count in standalone! ) and you really want the wavetable stuff, then yeah WC it is. _________________ I, Parasite | Synth fuckery on Soundcloud

i often use these 6 modules as a standalone system and am very happy with the configuration.
wogglebug, envelator, waveform city, classic vco, borg, mixolator.
if i had to choose only one oscillator (to make space for a sequantizer say) i'd choose the waveform city. it has the analogue side as has been said but, with the digital side, it offers a whole load of other sound possibilities as well.
a couple of slope detectors play really well with these if you want to cross-patch with another format. _________________ it does matter |

Yeah, the self-contained aspect is important. All my frac use bananas, so cross-patching is not optimal. Therefore it might make sense to get a wider palette from the start. So I guess analogue+digital trumps analogue in this setup.
I am really excited about this. Thanks for all insight so far! |

I just placed an order for 3 modules:
Classic VCO • Sequantizer • Borg Filters
Seems like a great start to me! |
