producers take note. This is one of my signature tricks and I've used it in pretty much all my tracks since I discovered it around 2002. This requires a delay that can sync to tempo and has predetermined musical intervals as the delay times. This is a lot harder to do with a delay that just works in milliseconds, but it can be done with a calculator. I use an Electrix warp factory which I think is the unit that does this trick the best. Others do it, but they don't have the same sound or the ability to toggle a ping-pong. Sometimes I will use multiple delay units in this effect.
I will setup a sequence to delay times in continuous controller messages across 1 to maybe even 16 or 32 bars. I write the delay times just like I would write music; patterns, builds, drops, etc. I like to use a short duration pitched sound in conjunction with some drums to create a series of pitch-shifted echos that are sequenced (in time) with the track.
This is not novel, I know, but the warp factory is a slick piece for achieving this, especially because it can toggle to a ping-pong mode from midi. This track is an example: http://www.renkucorp.com/audio/monochrome/MC01-03.mp3
Anyway, I hope this trick helps some new producers out there. I've given this gag a long run and figure its time to pass it on to the rest of the producing world. _________________ too i for your dm

nice tip! Monomachine is great for stuff like this since you have 6 fully controllable tempo synced delays. _________________ Listen

Thanks mate. Just starting to learn the power of delay. The machinedrum has great little delay with p-lock power. I always just thought of delay as something you put on a sound, but now I'm beginning to understand that you can play it. _________________ www.joylessrapture.tumblr.com |

Tuj - nice track!!!!!!!
I have a MO-Fx and yep, sequencing the delay time and regen is alot of fun... Those electrix boxes were really well done... solid, nice audio qual and full MIDI in/out.
thanks for sharing

one of the reasons i love audiomulch so much is because you can essentially sequence any effect.
so, save your plug in setting as a snapshot in mulch.. make changes. . save that one etc.. then when you're ready to put it all together into a composition just automate the snapshots in the timeline. super easy and yields some pretty crazy results sometimes.. but magic with delays or anything that has some kind of beat division parameter or lfo's etc. _________________ LABEL TWITTER FACEBOOOK SAMPLE LIBRARY
