Just stumbled on at analogue haven - 'Modulation Orgy' is one trippy looking module! seems like it might be a kind of amazing 'messing with stuff' machine - are there vid demoes of it or anything? not finding anything around.
Dig the look, reminds me of that old pinball machine 'riverboat gambler'.

Quote:
the ssl 2260 modulation orgy lfo is the illegitimate euro cousin to our 1260 tap tempo lfo, and is a special module indeed. you can set the lfo frequency by tapping the tap button, supplying a periodic gate to the sync input, or by changing the tempo cv. you can build tap tempo effects vibratos and tremolos, tap tempo controlled drum machines or tap tempo sequencer clocks. or use it the other way around - control the 2260 tempo with a sequencer! you can even use multiple 2260s to create polyrhythmic lfos using the built-in multiplier ratios. awesome possibilities!

edit:
oops, apologies for thread dupeage. maybe this could be locked and the title of the other one appended to help searching - swear i did a half assed search before starting this one, but didn't go as far as looking for tap tempo lfo..

There are a number of videos of the 5U version on youtube if you search for "Tap Tempo LFO."

Making your life even easier:

I got a chance to play with this lovely creature at the Philly Synth Meet earlier this month. It's great! The multitude of waveforms, the built-in clock multiplier, and the general sexiness of the design are a home run for me. Buying one this week.

http://vimeo.com/33631950 from 2:20 to 2:45 there's a short video of me demoing it for Exper using The_Crooked_Man's monorocket 9U. There's a lot of background noise and it's a SUPER simple patch, but you can at least kinda see what the unit looks like and how it behaves.

Cheers,
-ian

Speaking as someone who owns one (okay, actually I own two....) in MU format, I can confidently say they are my go-to LFO for the majority of modulation duties. thumbs up

I just got some of these in stock here at Equinoxoz and I am thoroughly impressed in every regard, have only just fired one up to test in a rudimentary manner but my immediate thought was it would be great to have two of them at different division rates and waveshapes connected to the SL-1p slide pot module from Synthwerks so i can sort of "scratch" between them. Will post a video as soon as I can.

I am way behind on posting videos because the local internet cafe where I usually upload them (my satellite net at home sux) is slower than a wounded snail at the moment.

On this note, is there any issues running it on +/- 12v? I'm guessing you have to use an external +5v source though?

Have you guys spent a lot more time with your orgies? Anyone else got some time to post a demo? I'm tossing up between this or the Sport as my main complex modulator in a 12U system. Thanks.

just recieved mine yesterday

It's great, but it's a bit too big for my 6U confused

in fact i would say that it sadly has only 1 orgy out (and a clock out) for its size.

Oopsy. Thought I fixed that. d'oh! oops Thanks for the heads up rico!

It should read something like: +/-12V, Int/Ext +5 source selection jumper.

Copy & paste can embarrass sometimes.

I wonder how one of these compare to say the Vulcan modulator even though I know they are different but are there any similarities or something the Orgy can do better. I'm seriously considering one of these over the ulfo. Chime in you owners. thumbs up

metallum, i actually like the bit jumpy video. thanks.

there's a jumper that allow you to take +5 from the 12v rail or (if available) the +5 rail of your PS.

and thanks everyone for your comments. I hope to post a bit more videos and manuals in the future, but I'm just one guy and sometimes production / $$ get in the way of more creative efforts. Therefor, I really appreciate your efforts in posting videos. You guys use modules in ways I would never have thought of. Keep it up!

You guys rock!

Re: size...

I'm liable to start a new Holy War here, but my feelings are that if you can't wrap your fingers around a knob easily, then what good is it?

I realize that there are others that want more function in less space and I completely understand. Among my next products will be a finger sharpener.

Mr. Green

Seriously though, I've gotten more positive comments about our layouts and sizes than I have negative comments.

I like to listen and make our stuff better.

Love it how it looks really badass amidst all those Doepfer (and Flame) modules smile

Any chance of getting this distributed over to Europe?

After Your post I wrapped knobs with my fingers. And it feels like it was design thinking of ergonomics.
Its very comfortable, I prefer that solution than tiny module.

Doug I say this with all sincerity you are one of the nicest chaps in the modular synth business, with what has to be one of the best attitudes among people that I know of.

Personally I LOVE the way your modules are layed out, the designs, the functionality and every bit of effort you put into making each product quality (and feel that it is worth the money that you would drop on it)

The fact you listen to people and take it all on board is a major indication that you are as much in touch with the users of your products as the very people who use them and that is always a very good thing.
