Getting really paranoid about my old low-cost 9U being filled with all these modules that I haven't really, you know, checked the power consumption on and what not.
+I can hardly reach my QMMG, agh! Those Outs sit so damn low. Need a Buchla-arch. Looking veeery closely at this case and counting my cash. _________________ ♪...He thought he waaas the cream of the crop; buuut he Bleeped, when he should've Blopped.

The funny thing is I don't even have any modules yet and I just bought a Happy Ending Kit a month ago.
I could have paid for several modules with this money but I received an unexpected holiday bonus and figured I'd otherwise not be willing/able to drop that much cash at once. I can afford to buy 1-2 modules a month and still would have needed a case at some point and this is the only one that really speaks to me. The fact that it has multiple surfaces/angles/layouts or whatever is what I find most appealing.
It really is built like a tank. |

according to the site, a dixie should fit in the top row anywhere just fine...
though I know for a fact that the site isn't accurate, because there's no way a uScale fits in there and it says 'all intellijel'... |

There is a photo in this thread I think with a uStep and a uScale next to each other in the bottom boat. |

After much wavering I've bitten the bullet, no pun intended.
So I've just had confirmation from David at Postmodular UK that Gur is preparing a Silver bullet for me!
When I get it I'll make a a short list of what modules I've put in it and which ones do and don't fit and where in the three rows.
I spent quite a bit of time scrutinising the photos on the Tiptop website and the ones on this thread calculating whether I could squeeze two deeper modules not only on the right hand side (as has already been shown) but also on the left hand side on the top and bottom rows.
Photo's to follow once it's here. _________________ http://www.vcoadsr.com

I wish we could get more clear depth measurements then. Do you have to make sure to place them between bus board connectors? do they have to go at the end where there's no bus board at all? can other ribbons go behind the module no problem? Anyone try a flip flop or spock? |

I only have a few modules and they are all shallow/ish (Mutagen, BD-808, SD-808). I agree that more detailed depth specs would be nice, for the case and modules in general.
Even with the limited array of modules I have it's become clear that having short ribbon cables would make things much tidier and ultimately more space. I think having mostly 1" or so long cables would be best, just enough to reach or fold nicely but I don't know all the variables to consider.
Do people just cut their own cables with the appropriate tool and reattach the connector or do you just buy them? |

So i received my Silver bullet yesterday here in the UK and have now filled it up without any compromise to the modules I wanted to put in it wrt to module depth.
I'm really pleased with it, even after I'd ordered it and was waiting I was second guessing whether I should have bought it. Simple answer is I have no regrets at all now I have it.
Anyway, I wanted to add some information about modules and depths that are at the limits for the station 252 case (I've uploaded a modular planner pic with my current setup in my Station 252 case and so any modules I don't mention below fit in easy with respect to depth).
4ms RCD - will ONLY fit in the top and bottom tiers on the right hand side - nowhere else.
Intellijel uStep - will fit in both top and bottom tiers ONLY JUST in-between the power connectors. The PCB of the uStep literally sits on the face of the power bus board.
Synovatron CV tools - this will fit in either the top and bottom tiers BUT will only fit on the far left hand side of the middle tier (it is actually up against a component on the power bus board - it's a snug fit).
Intellijel Dixie - this will fit in both the top and bottom tier but only between certain power connectors. It took me some time to try the various module permutations until I had the Dixie in the right place with no 2HP gaps (actually I filled the said gap with a 2HP multiple).
I'm waiting on the Synthwerks PGM 4x4 module to go on sale and I'll be replacing the Choices and FSR-1Ns - so I'm hoping that won't have any depth issues.

This case is superb, I like the design round the edges personally.
Also the drama at the beginning of this thread was kinda funny.
Look's so cool closed as well, like your off to fix something important lol.
I think the other cases and that flexible power board look decent from Tiptop too.
Anybody got that flexi board thing ? |

Well, I showed my girlfriend the case and she said it looked like a toolbox!! Cheeky sod, a very Expensive toolbox. But I guess I see where she was coming from, just at the time didn't need her to say that. Lol _________________ http://www.vcoadsr.com

Haha, I'm talking the sort of toolbox you would take out with you if you were ,popping down the street to help somebody fix their X-Wing fighter |

TTA 252 LAX-SFO FTW
TSA had no problems. At LAX they lady just looked at it from her seat after it came out of the scanner. At SFO the guy actually stood up and said, "What is that - a synthesizer?" and I said yes. He said, "What brand - Moog?"! _________________ www.pyraphonic.com |

I bet if you had to prove your point you could bust out some awesome modular techno with your case Gur _________________ www.equinoxoz.com
