Here's a good example of some EBM stuff that's got a pretty heavy trance vibe at times (see around 1:00).

The EBM entry on Wikipedia talks quite a bit about the crossover/influences of goa on industrial/ebm and vice versa.

In fact, I think I tend to prefer progressive psytrance partly because the basslines remind me of EBM.

i have most of those releases b3nsf. that early 90's german trance scene with harthouse, eye-q, sven vath etc was excellent! still gets played from time to time here too.

Excellent stuff that Teutonic Knights... Hmm I have sometimes a bit of a problem with that nihilistic german thing, verging on the nazist sometimes razz

Same thing with neofolk really, for some reason most of the germa stuff goes really high on the misantrophic scale.. But damn those are tasty sounds in that track! And strange, what was the thing with Norway and EBM at that time? Can't say we would have had a similar scene, altough we're practically neighbors.

I think he uses software; beyond that I have no idea. There are some youtube videos of him using a small midi controller next to a laptop, doing what looks like filter sweeps etc.

One of my all time favourite albums is a psy trance album – sort of. Hallucinogen's Hallucinogen in Dub, remixed by OTT is just fantastic. Never heard anything like it, not even OTT's other stuff.

But the fast goa stuff, I'd really need to drop acid to enjoy.

I've always appreciated the original Twisted album more. But I'm not generally into Ott either.

I'll arrive already on the 22th, and leave on the 1st probably... Gonna play at some other party too probably next Thursday. Maybe you want to tag along, I was thinking of maybe going hiking up north between the parties, it's fantastic there in the spring!

That's one of my all time fav tracks! Great to be playing with him at the same party, for me these occasions are strange, like playing with Pleiadians was, because they are the people that made me start with trance music in the first place!

Odyssey of the Mind gets a lot of play here, same with that first Quirk album.

Well, I'm playing from CD a "live" DJ set, so not much to record there grin

I'm mostly interested in songwriting so haven't had the energy or money to invest in any kind of live set... I'm hoping though, last summer for the first time played some tracks straight from the sequencer in the set, that was fun actually...

One interesting thing though was, that my contact with the audience was less, because the laptop took so much attention... So best would maybe be to have backgrounds in some software that allows to drag & drop projects fast and reliably in to a playlist, and then have maybe only one MIDI track for each track, and then have a synth for tweaking some live stuff in... Because with some basic analog desktop it would be fast enough to dial in any patch. I couldn't do with a pre-ordained set, because often I realize that I need to put some certain track next, and have maybe a minute or less to throw that in... Maybe Ableton Live would be good for this, don't know... But that's a bit expensive too confused

But yeah the oldschool (connected to the finnish/australian sound for some reason) scene definitely still exists in Israel!

Great Track. I remember picking up Dragonfly Project II Trance and the first Concept in Dance on the same day, and that was pretty much that for the next 4 years. I hoovered up anything I could find.

I didn't read back through the thread, have we mentioned that Suntrip records has been churning out oldschool melodic Goa releases for a few years now?

Aah myself, about the new goa trance acts. I don't know why, but I can't really name ONE that would make me actually want to listen to the music. Maybe it's some lack of purity of ideas, maybe it's the flat computer sounds & production... Dunno.
Maybe Filteria (great guy, and has a lot of analog gear, MS20 etc) and Afgin (also a fantastic personality, don't remember now what he is using)... And some others possibly, but generally a LOT of this new style is focusing too much on cliched melodies, and less on interesting sonic textures and acid, like the old UK sound did for example...
