it's very frustrating getting a straight answer through google searching, but i know you guys can help me out. all i need is a mac vst to throw into ableton's master track so i can put the tape/turntable stop in a couple of places. help me out dudes! thumbs up

I went a bit "full-bore / whole-hog" and bought Izotope's "Stutter Edit". It is great for stuff like this.

I'm pretty sure that Native Instruments' "The Finger" does what you are looking for as well.

other than the already mentioned, The Finger and stutter edit...

if you have maxforlive there is a max4live object called 'tape stop'. you can find it at the max4live blog.

otherwise you should get sugarbytes effectrix though turnado might work as well

Sugar bytes also makes Artillery. One of my favorite "master track" plugins.

is any of these working with live input audio or are these just for tracks from HD ?
is any of these easy in use ? selfexplaining, intuitiv regarding setting up/programming ?

Yes, Live Inputs can be processed.

I can't answer the 2nd or 3rd questions for you. I suggest that you try the demos and owners' manuals.

as much as i like stutter edit, i already hear it being used in every huge commercial track ever.

i worry about its overuse constantly.

maybe i should spend more time fine tuning patches for it, that'd lead to less stagnancy.
