Please don't think I'm being bitchy - just snarky. There's a difference. Well, maybe not. I'm actually just jealous of those who can afford these right now - it's a beautiful device, probably the best thing like it to come along, and I'd like to get one eventually. |
Oh, no offense taken whatsoever. Yes, the soldering itself takes 30 minutes, but there's cutting and stripping the wire, tying it into a harness that won't get in the way of other things, drilling/punching the holes correctly and testing the final result to make sure it's bomb proof. All of that will probably take closer to 5 hours on the first unit or two, but settle into 2 once I have the procedure down and can develop a solid rhythm. I always always ALWAYS over-estimate things so they come in sooner than planned.
Also, when I mention the potential for error, I'm assuming a standard deviation that involves human interaction as well as the potential for error due to hand assembly. There's always a higher error ratio when you introduce a person into the mix. It's the potential I budget for - not the actuality. _________________ Detachment 3

Given the history of this thing blowing past projected released dates, can I add a little and ? It's a lovely product and I'm very interested. That just gave me a little chuckle.
Cheers,

After some of my past posts on the topic, the tone of which I truly do regret, I probably should have learned to bite my tongue by now. I am very excited for you guys that this one seems to be nearing completion.
Cheers,

I've suggested this before about a year or so ago but here it is again:
Someone should make a big box of molded banana jack to ¼" TS adapters!
Or if you made them by hand like the one above they are only about $2 each in materials plus some elbow grease. The hardest part is attaching the banana jack to the shell. I haven't tried it but probably the easiest would be hot glue filled up just past the banana jack threads?
So, for under $50 someone could make enough by hand to plug into all the jacks in an Archangel? ;-) _________________ | My Facebook | My Soundcloud |My Vimeo | My YouTube | My GrooveShark | |

I'm putting this out there as a friend of Eric's. This is just information, nothing more.
l
I had put down an "Investors Deposit" as some others did.
After more than a year, I started to get pretty antsy.
I called Eric, I was ready to abandon and sell my spot.
Eric was very obliging to share some of the developing info with me.
I calmed down when I took into account how cool this thing would be.
I've been privy to some of the development issues with this thing.
It has been a real bear for the DET 3 team.
Creating a complex stew of very cool features working together in harmony, equals lots of issues.
For instance, one bug would be fixed, and another would pop up in it's place. This was a constant. It all sounded like a game of "whack a mole" to me.
I've sensed some frustration coming from Eric . He has a bunch of cool products in the pipeline that he couldn't focus on because of his commitment to Archangel.
Products like the Switch and Time Divider for the Time Modules Sequencer.
Probably other things I don't know about.
The Archangel has been a real head scratcher for DET 3. But, like I said, I have the prototype for some beta testing.
All I can say is I'm very happy I didn't sell my spot. _________________ My SoundCloud space

i'm very excited to see this thing completed and production ready, as i've said a bazillion times. it's a cool sequencer, the touchplates are really a whole different ballgame compared to what we're used to. that 'position' output is killer. _________________ youtube

Really enjoyed the Sonic State video too.
Finally a clear and detailled demo, instead of just some chaotic wiggling |

Right then, I guess I'll do some chaotic wiggling in my own time. Demo's already up. Thanks for saving me the work STG. _________________ My SoundCloud space

Well, after watching that NAMM video... I think I know what I want as my first sequencer, the Archangel is just... I swear, it literally, somehow, could print money.. in music form. Or something like that.
Do I ever want to get my hands on it! |

Makes one wonder just why would a manufacturer give someone the prototype? _________________ My SoundCloud space

Personally I'd prefer to see Ron's chaotic wiggling than anything on sonicstate, but that's just me. _________________ What they do is this: They leak current in proportion to the frequency of the signal. The ramifications of this can only be truly appreciated when solving nodal current balances in the Laplace domain, unfortunately.
