cheers for all the lovely comments everyone!

have only just surfaced again to read them all.

in reply to various queries and suggestions:

1 - the cake was lemon drizzle inside (my favourite)
2 - i've not been able to face cutting it yet, and initially wanted to see if i could preserve it in some way so that i didn't have to destroy it. apparently you can't. bugger!
3 - the lovely lady in question who organised it all is my wife already! (so i can't ask her to marry me unfortunately!)

apparently she even borrowed a load of my patch cables to model from, and i didn't even notice!

was WELL sweet - easily the best present ever!! (plus i've still got a ton of cash to spend at scheiders in Berlin in April!)
