I finally picked up a second Z3000 recently, it sure is nice to have some matched oscillators.

I've got an AFG, a Z3000, and a Dixie for my analog oscs and I'm happy. Ideally, I'd have 2 AFGs (because of its picky Sync) but don't have the space for it in my plan. I'll eventually be adding the makenoise dual osc for matched oscillator madness.

I also prefer this. Module designers obviously make their modules so they work well together. But more importantly, one can lose a lot of time mixing and matching stuff. I find that very tedious, actually. I just choose a brand I like and try my best to stick with it... only if there's something that is not being offered by that brand, I will consider other brands.

Well I had a Z3000, an anti and unkle, and wanted to know too about having a pair.... so I bought 2 dixies, I agree it works nice for fat basses, fm etc... but I often use then in unrelated ways, just glad to have 2 osc in such a small footprint... I am dam curious about having a pair of any of my other osc too, but that is going to be in another case if it ever happens... or I may swap the z3000 for another anti witch seems to be such a nice pair...

both based on phase distortion i think (plasticz is based on the CZ series)

mmm DPO is a must for me, can't remember why, too many reasons.
BUT instead of the Micromac, 3x Hordijk VCO and a format jumbler!

wait are you saying the DPO is based on phase distortion?

I think it's really nice to have both some matching oscillators and some different ones.

Being on a really tight budget I had hoped someone could tell me to go all matching or to get all different oscillators, but I've personally decided that both options are really cool and simply give you more colors in your palette.

There's no rule that two different oscillators can't beat against each-other but it will most likely sound different than two of the same oscillator. Different though, not better or worse.

I think you mean the PDO, not the DPO, OPD, POD or DOP;)

Well... Sure! if you don't change the frequency ever! but the likelihood of finding two oscillators from different manufacturers that track the same is pretty low.

Calibration is the key. Isn't it ?

I play a lot with AM those days, using three A-110. I have calibrated all three : the last pair I purchased secondhand didn't track the same way. I think calibration is mandatory if you want to play w/ AM & FM. Else, the playable range is rather narrow (and even w/ calibration, prepare to analogue artefacts).

I'm enjoying playing FM with my two Z3000s.
