This is kind of a random question, but... Does anyone know why some of the Cwejman modules are the same eggshell color as the new version of the S1 mk2, while others are the older military green? Will they be changing the front panels on all the modules to the off-white color? (If so, I guarantee that someone will claim that "the green ones sound better"!!).

I would like to bump this... I have been wondering for quite some time what the significance of the color difference is.

There's been some discussion about this on the Cwejman forum:
http://cwejmanusers.net/viewforum.php?f=1

But no comment on this from Wowa, so I don't really know the answer...

Cheers

All Cwejman modules pre early 2010 are Dark Green, and so far those that were originally produced in Dark Green have, over subsequent production runs remained in Dark Green.

The CRV-24 and CTG-VC were (and still are) shown on cwejman.net as being in Dark Green, but when they were finally released - just after the BLD, MMF-6 and RG-6 (all of which have only ever been in Eggshell White) - they were also in Eggshell White.

So currently all modules, except the BLD, MMF-6, RG-6, CTG-VC and CRV-24, have only ever been available in Dark Green and are still produced in Dark Green, and these five exceptions have only ever been available in Eggshell White.

The S1MkII is the only Cwejman product to have been updated from Dark Green to Eggshell White.

Why the change? Old posts on here suggest it was for a love of the sleek Modcan B look.

Are there quite a few Cwejman owners who would like Dark Green replacement panels for their BLD, MMF-6, RG-6, CTG-VC and CRV-24's - yup, but no word from the man yet if this will ever happen - feel free to bump/add name to list here

i quite prefer the dark green/battleship grey panels to the creme ones, but its whats behind the panel that really makes these modules great.

Now if someone were to do a run of Cwejman replacement panels with MakeNoise style artwork i'd be the first in line!

From a reliable source, I heard the change was a symbolic reference towards a new chapter in life and re-marriage. The eggshell white color was chosen for it's 'purity'. The Modcan B look is a red herring.

So I guess the real question is, when new production runs are made for older modules, why aren't they white too?
It doesn't really matter to me, just curious.

Because at the time, it was decided to preserve the original color scheme for older modules (aesthetic purposes perhaps). Plus they weren't dedicated to the new wife wink

I know this doesn't explain the S1 color scheme change, however you know as well as I, 'ninjas' are unpredictable when they strike. And they disappear like a shadow under a full-moon night. Perhaps on that particualar day Ninja preferred his white uniform? Tough to call. You can apply the above for delivery of the little shurikens (modules).

I think we should boycott the purchase of his modules until he gives us an answer. . . Oh , what's that you say? It would be futile because they are never available anyway Dead Banana

Well to you perhaps razz Did your "Cwejman inner circle" application get turned down, hmm?

(Only kidding, I have to wait like everyone else at times)

My cwejman modules don't look green at all. They're definitely gray.

My Cwejman modules come in three colors.

Dark / Military Green
White
"Eggshell" White (kind of a yellow-ish creamy color?)

My RG-6 is the only one that looks completely different than the more normal green and eggshell modules. So odd.

Another vote here for the battleship gray/green. I'm thinking about getting an S1 and I would have probably gotten a new one already if they weren't eggshell white. I think they are/were some of the best looking modules around, it just doesn't get much better than this in the aesthetics department:

I'm with ya - totally can't bring myself to buy the yellow/white modules like the BLD. I appreciate individuality, but that colour scheme is outside my design comfort zone. Alternate panels would be a wonderful option.

By the way, according to my critical eyes, the gray panels are indeed within the definition of 'gray', but will reflect a slight green tint in mixed lighting. It was a HUGE relief to see they weren't the green indicated in the original illustrations on his site.

I actually like that olive green too, but I'm OK with the military-industrial complex look in general.

I actually emailed Wowa about this recently and he said he would eventually phase out all the gray-green panels. Too bad. A shot of a lone white module amongst the somber gray-green:

Is the paint on the egg-shell panels any more resilient to scratching? I only have a couple of grey/green ones but it strikes me as odd that the powder-coated finish of premium modules such as these comes off so easy.. especially with the military-spec connotations and all that.. seriously, i just don't get it

Apparently the new paint is a military grade coating used for radars, so I assume so!

This is what I would like in a system. Uniform colors, nicely laid out panels. Perfect looking.

I totally hear you on that, I resisted for ages when I was shopping for an S1mk2, looked everywhere (I thought) for a military one, thought I couldn't abide by the new scheme but I bit the bullet eventually and it's really grown on me since, there's an inherent beauty that I suppose you just have to live with for a while to appreciate. It's a little different with modules but the old S1mk2s look kinda old fashioned now I'm used to this

Yeah, here was the source for that info:

The man has spoken. It looks better! I don't know...

Yeah when it comes to modules I value sound and functionality a great deal more than aesthetics but that does look incredibly nice.

Would be cool if at some point Cwejman offered a color choice but I really don't see that happening.

If anybody's really interested in gray-green replacement panels for the newer white modules, send me a PM. I might be able to get this going. From what I can tell there are five "white" (off-white/eggshell/cream/whatever) modules:

BLD
CTG-VC
MMF-2
MMF-6
RG-6

Powdercoating and silkscreening just a few panels is expensive, so this only make sense if there's enough volume. So send me a PM and I'll figure out how much interest there is and get a price quote.

Thats a badass rig there. I saw the Cwejman racks over @ AH but it seems as though they are long gone.

I like the white modules, but I wouldnt complain if a pile of the green ones feel out of the sky into my rack (hides)

Yeah, over on cwejmanusers.net Wowa said that he only made 25 of them and that they were "a pain" to make so I don't think they'll be available again.
