I am looking for a case for 12 modules Rob Hordijk system.

I want a Cabinet something like this, see link

Hi Bart,

Congrats, you won't regret your decision... applause

For the cab, best thing you can do is go up the DIY alley...

Check out these threads :

http://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=45375&highlight=hordi jk

http://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=47955&highlight=hordi jk

http://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=53265&highlight=hordi jk

So, you could make it by yourselves or you could have it made... guys like Wheedywizz and others on this very forum would be more than glad to design and make a beautiful and unique cab for your system ...

Cheers,

Z.

I love Hanz his setup only a little to small for me
I want to begin with the exact the same setup as Hanz.
Only with the option to buy more in the near future.

This one is perfect: http://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=53265&highlight=hordi jk
Maybe with out the top row.

There are no webshops with pre made cases execept synthesizer.com?
I am not a DIY guy:)

Are you in Europe or North America or? If in Europe try:

COTK has nice wooden and portable tolex cabinets like Moog/Synthesizers.com.
http://www.cluboftheknobs.com/

Mos-Lab only has portable tolex as far as I know:
http://www.mos-lab.com/

Moon has some nice 10 MU wooden cases but they aren't listed on their site:
http://www.moonmodular.com/

I tend to recommend the low-cost (but very high quality) cabinets that Christopher Winkels offers. 14MU of space per cabinet, and not only are they easy to put together, they can be stained any colour of your choice ^_^

Hi Exwel (Bart),

I will try to see if I can find the contact address of a wood furniture builder that built a nice studio desk for a friend of mine.
I think that would be a nice possibility and more local (Netherlands/EU) than getting something over from across the ocean...

If in Europe, you could contact Ross Lamond
http://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=58047
Or Goikes
not sure if they make the style you are after, but it is worth looking into.
What modules have you ordered?

This is the wood furniture builder in the Netherlands that I was referring to; http://www.snijdersmeubelmakerij.nl/meubelsstudiomeubel.htm
They made a nice studio furniture, displayed on the site. (unfortunately it's a bit of a messy studio, all the crap in there kind of obscures the nice furniture... hihi )
Not in pictures unfortunately is the modular (5U) furniture that was also delivered. I've seen it in person and the quality was really to a high standard.

Obviously, as woodworkers they are not experts with modular stuff - which brings me to the point where I suggest just picking up all the 'technical' bits you need and then have the case custom-built 'around' it. In this way, you avoid any issues with panel space clearances, unforeseen wiring issues etc.
Exwel, I was wondering; are you getting the three 'multipanels' from Rob H., and also the required PSU / power wiring included?
Rob H., having built my system furnished in wood, can obviously tell you which other elements you might need (rails, etc.).

Those cases by Lamond are very tempting as the clearly look great, however they seem focussed on Eurorack mainly, and rely on off-the-shelf power solutions that are available typically for Euro (not the same as for 5U / RHD stuff obviously). Not sure if Lamond have any experience building for the 5U market? (especially considering PSU etc)
Maybe Ross / Microscopial could clarify on this?

Hi Ross, cheers on your excellent building efforts, please don't take my post as crtical towards your products.... wink

The thing about PSU being supplied by Rob or not was my question as well... On the other hand, no, I believe they are not 'bespoke' or custom anything, just regular 5U/MU compatible power supplies (not the same voltage as Eurorack obviously).
The thing is, if you want to deliver a 'complete solution' without further DIY by Exwell himself, there's no such thing as an off-the-shelf TipTop uZeus / Zeus Powered Busboard / Make Noise DINpower-like solution available in 5U/MU that I know of, there's still mounting of PSU, busboards, wiring etc. to be done. That would require some thinking on how you will be delivering a 'ready to go' system...

Rob Hordijk is pretty handy. He threw in a nice 19" rack enclosure
for my complete system. Granted it was a large order for a 12 module
system. It is metal based, not wood. And it also serves as nice protection
during shipping of the individual modules, which would be shipped
regardless.

Consider that OP is in Holland himself, so there might be local pickup from Rob H. involved, not shipping...
A shame that Rob only built my wood-enclosed system as a one-off (I feel privileged now smile) but he mentioned running into practical tool restrictions with the size of my system already. As Exwell mentioned his system would need to be larger...

no.

modcan b are motm format size panels and screw spacing.

hordijk are MU size panels and screw spacing.
