I remember BryanB mentioning the Double Deka could be used as a sequencer a couple of times while we were waiting for those to come to life. Could someone explain that patch to me?

Cheers,
Brian

this was actually the first patch that i made with the DDVCO after receiving it. if i remember correctly the patch was something like this:

first flip the output switch to DC, then turn the coarse tune down to 0.
take the output of either bank (or mix) and send it to the 1v/oct input of an OSC.

adjusting the coarse tune knob to change the rate. the sliders should change the pitch.

there may be a detail that i am forgetting, but that should get you started.

as others have said before me, DDVCO is definitely one of the coolest oscillators ever made. i just felt the need to express publicly.

thanks again Doug and Ian!!! It's motherfucking bacon yo

Yes, it is just a matter of using it in DC mode, at slower frequencies.

But, it never hurts to try flipping it back to AC once you have it going! thumbs up (particularly with faster sequences)

It can be used as a two output, 10 stage (only) sequencer. It's easy. Simply select DC on the output couling switch and run either or both the A & B outputs to the VCO / VCF / VCA / Etc. of your choice. Then select the lowest octaves for each bank and turn the main frequency down pretty low.

I haven't tried this, but it might be possible to run the output of one bank into the sync input to control the number of stages. hmmm.....

Again with DC coupling, Running one of the outputs (say "A") into eigher the Expo or Linear CV inputs and turn it's octave very low, and then listen to the output from output "B" at higher octaves, you can get some really cool self modulation - kinda like old video games at some settings.

You should be able to pause or reset it with one of the sync modes and it's corresponding input jack.

I have gotten this to work, but it is a bit hard to reign it into a naturally useable state. I think this feature might be more useful as an LFO waveshaper.

I have been too busy toying with the timbres to mess much with this yet. The Mix CV for fading between banks has been a favorite feature of this thing so far. I run an envelope into the CV control and it starts making some fun sounds. If you really want to get crazy run an envelope in the CV octave select!

Also throw a s/h LFO into the Lin FM and flip the Lin FM switch to dc and it will make it do some strange fluctuations while sequencing. I love this module some day I plan on having 2 of them!

I've had fun with this along with a quantizer. Used along with a sub-oscillator makes it even more functional. Most of the recent videos I've made have a subset of this idea.
Great vco!

Didn't I put up a demo of that in the first day or two? I remember doing it.

Absolutely! I remember it. It was a good one too.

Thanks, guys! I played with patching this earlier in the afternoon.

David, I haven't used the CGS01 too much yet but definitely saw its charms in conjunction with the DD. I can't pretend I totally have my head around it yet, but I thought the sweet spots I stumbled on were quite cool.

The pain of senility! Or maybe I missed it the first time around. I'll look it up.

Cheers,
