I just started playing with Addictive Microsynth and it's a ton of fun. Drawing in filter shapes (not envelope shapes, but actual filter response curves) is a blast, and the wave morphing is fun too. I haven't dug into the arp or loop recorder yet, but they seem great. _________________ http://wwww.speakonion.com for drum'n'noise

Hello there
Well, i'd like to say afew words about apps i have
Jasuto Pro
This is modular synth, i like it very much though i can't say i succeed with it.
It has more modules than Reactable, sound is nice, and there are many possibilities. But i stick to basic patches or "shitty noises" with it. Ohh.
Though there are great patches by users that show that Jasuto is rly good
and needs more love. It's very good as FX for samples, i think.
If anyone here uses it, could u show smth with it in Jasuto thread on this forum?
NanoStudio
Well, that's it. App that made revolution =) Very user-friendly, and lets make the whole track with it. Good for simple easy-listening music.
ThumbJam
One of the most important apps on iOs, imho. I consider ThumbJam being best ehmm.. rompler? Very expressive control of how u do this + very very nice samples (i don't know any piano apps where piano samples sounds better , for example.) This is excellent for live things, making a sketch of some melody or u can choose Theremin or Violin in ThumbJam and plug it into your modular - and let surreal improvisation be!
And BY THE WAY! If you like triggering drums with fingers, ThumbJam can do it better than BeatMaker 0o AAAND you CAN use VELOCITY. when u press more left, pad is less loud. Closer to right of pad - it's more louder.
Just switch on in menu.
TweakyBeat
Very cute 16-step drum synth. Oh, and it's FREE.
I love to add distortion to it.
Spoke, Radarhead
Two nice drum machines with "Radar" philosophy.
i808
Simple, but i like it. TR-808 influenced app with good
interface and visual style.
JR Hexatone
Very interesting drum machine with unique sequencer ideology.
U'll find videos with Jordan Rudess easily.
Sound Squares
As guitar minded, i prefer layout close to Novation Launchpad instead of
keyboard. So, take a look
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRrjcGesyDQ
Well, it can be not 8bit style btw.
BeBot
Amazing expressive app with such a cute Robo.
U know.
Noise.Io
Noise.Io was the first or second synth on iOs.
And it still has some points, that no other have beaten yet.
i mean incredible FLEXIBILITY!
you can have pitch changing on left to right, filter cut off or distortion amount for up to down movements of finger, rolling idevice for changing chorus, tilt for control feedback of phaser or delay, and 4 "buttons" which can be effects on\off or +1\-3 octaves or changing patterns.
What i wrote is just example, u can choose controls differ from that in ur patch
btw,
I remember some patches, that were crazier than Jasuto's.
RicePad
I like this sampler, it is RLY fun to use in live.
For example, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfShrlQfnXs
=============================
Well, i have more but sorry i wanna sleep.
And btw i have just IpodTouch 2G, so i can't use CamelAudio's, Sunrizer etc. _________________ wow.. we're sky high.. that shark we just jumped over is tiny.. we're so high right now (c) found on gearslutz |

Have you tried this with the Alesis iO Dock? I'm curious how good the MIDI implementation is. |

Has anyone tried Lemur by Liine? Just wondering how it compares to the original Jazzmutant version.

Picked up a nice grain synth that's fun, a few minor crashes though, called Grain Science _________________ http://a100usersplace.blogspot.com/ |

So I want to start sampling my modular on my ipad 1. I obviously don't want to sample through the built in mic, so I need some sort of interface that will give me a line in and out through the same cable. I came across this "irig" cable that does exactly that, except its aimed at guitars. Has anyone tried using this with their modular? Is there any issues with levels or impedience, ( both of which I know little about). Or is there any other easy solution? Im aware of alesis idock, but its a bit overkill for my needs at the moment. _________________ http://soundcloud.com/cillianjohn |

@cillianjohn:
i've used irig with synth levels just fine.
i just looked in this thread for the first time and can't believe there's only one minor allusion to samplewiz. if you don't have it on your ipad yet and are into samplers and granular synthesis, get it now! |

cool, thanks. Great you're getting on well with samplewiz. This was the app I had in mind to use for sampling. I havent bought it yet but it looks pretty powerful. _________________ http://soundcloud.com/cillianjohn |

Geo Synthesizer is a great MIDI controller. Similar to Mugician but with MIDI out and customizable width and height of the "frets". I've been using it occasionally to control my modular, using the iRig MIDI interface between them.
I'm also a fan of SunVox, Phaedra, and Little MIDI Machine. I didn't like Genome (seems to have latency?).
To agree with what a few others have said, the apps with simpler interfaces seem to work better on a tablet.
I like that there are a selection of simple MIDI-capable sequencers available for the iPad. There are of course a number of excellent MIDI controller apps too (TouchOSC, Lemur, and MIDI Studio).
But I haven't found a good MIDI-triggerable sample slicer, which would be a killer app for me (Sample Lab is close but no MIDI in—any recommendations would be appreciated). |

TC-11 has become both my new favorite iPad synth and one of my favorite touch interfaces for anything.
The new Richard Divine Animoog timbres/presets are pretty damn good as well. |

Can you be more specific on how you were using it, and when latency occurred?
Anyone else have experience with Genome? I haven't bought it yet, but it looks cool. I'd just like to hear from some more people about its reliability. |

No MIDI I/O, presumably at least in part because of their focus on touch/gyro input methods, which are incredibly thorough and configurable. It's pricy, but check out the user guide and you'll see that you get quite a lot for that $30. Personally, I like supporting devs who buy in and plumb the depths of the platform, and TC-11 is very much an iPad Synthesizer rather than yet another analog modeling softsynth ported to iOS. |

Looks like they have a new version as of a few weeks ago which may have addressed the issue http://blog.ilearnmusic.com/2012/04/genome-midi-sequencer-ipad-v1-0-7- update-greatly-reduced-latency-when-not-using-network-midi-retina-ipad -display-and-more/
Being a sequencer, it doesn't need to be as immediate as a MIDI controller. But basically the issue I saw is that when I changed a note, it seemed that sometimes it wouldn't update until the next time that sequence played. In the past I have used network CoreMIDI, but I am currently exclusively using an iRig for MIDI control.
There are a handful of Youtube videos with people using Genome, it should be easy to get an idea of how the app works. It definitely does a lot of things right, but I discovered that I personally prefer the simpler, more hardware-like sequencers. |

I just started playing with genome today.
So far so good. Love the interface. Haven't checked latency yet.
Three modular voices through a vermona qmi + drums via the drum dokta. _________________ What were we talking about? I forgot... |
