In the US this is the only option when you leave the bar in some locations.
I'm curious what the options are for wiggler's who drink and like to pick up some food late! I've seen some great locations in places like New York city but I've noticed how people who still like to go to Taco Bell despite the fact they can pick up something else at the same price. Are we hypnotized by this shit food source commercials? _________________ "Sell crazy someplace else. We're all stocked up here." - Melvin Udall

My typical late night dining spot is a 24 hour Vietnamese restaurant. It's a happening spot in the wee hours on weekends. Barring that, there are the typical diners/coffee shops, though I usually just invite folks back to my place for a night cap. I don't really have cravings for fast food.
Cheers,
Brian |

| Taco Bell is good but the sodium content tempts a deeper hangover for me. A kids meal from Micky Dee's would probably hit the spot though. When we used to party in Westwood (LA) there was a great sub shop that served up Cuban sammies that were the bomb if you could brave the line. |

My favorite late night here used to be called Late Nite Pie... They had the best pizza in the universe ever and it was called The Stanky Whore. You could have it delivered to your door even until around 3am.
I haven't eaten one since before I was full blown vegan, but it had goat cheese, roasted garlic cloves and anchovies.
The placed was burned down recently by its the owner though for insurance money or something... _________________ Perhaps all pleasure is only relief.

Back in the old days when I was still a New Yorker we would go to this place called Kiev after clubbing. Best pierogies ever. They also made a bacon, egg and cheese on challah bread drenched in butter that was like a greasy slice of heaven. Our other haunt was a cafe called Yaffa. I wouldn't set foot in a Taco Bell if you held me at gunpoint. _________________ http://recoilsun.bandcamp.com/

Back in college there was this Chinese restaurant called Lai Wa in Sacramento where the kitchen used to stay open until 2am. At about 1:30am, we'd be finishing off the kegs and we'd go racing across the causeway from Davis to Sac trying to get there before they closed. As long as your foot was in the door before 2am, they would feed you. Funny cause all kinds of cars would be racing up about the same time. The tomato beef chowmein was to die for. Don't ask me how we kept it down after all that beer. Good times. |

| No contest! In Canada Taco Bell is super shitty. McDonalds the lesser of the two evils. Double Big Mac for sure. I went to Taco Bell close to my house about 2years ago there was no filling in the taco and it was bland. Mind you last time I was in NY I ate a McDonalds with the kids and noticed that they use different oil for there fries and couldn't stomach the strange taste....... |

| I'd need to be really, really desperate to eat at a fast food place. Just about any diner can offer a burger far better than McDingles. Options depend on location obviously, but many cities have some late restaurants, maybe a few 24 hour ones. Else I'd go to a convenience store or gas station and get something - maybe milk and bananas. Or a pint of good ice cream if I need serious calories. |

As a teenager, after Rocky Horror, Denny's for coffee, fries, and cigarettes.
At University, a Philly diner for coffee, fries, and cigarettes (and one time on our push-bikes through the White Castle drive-thru at 2.30am for some sliders). | shred wrote: | Wawa hoagie | Wawa hoagies are far too healthy for this topic!
Now (on the very rare occasion that I am out very late and very drunk), a mince-and-cheese pie from the 2-4 (the 24-hour dairy) or some chips from the nasty late-night chippie. |

you guys in the US are so lucky - in uk maccy d's there's no such thing as double big macs etc, no free drink refills etc
a big mac, large fries and drink costs about £5 something.
if ytou dont like Maccy D's/KFC or burger king then you're stuck with dodgy kebab houses unless you live in a big city.
and UK portions of foods are tiny.
i'm so far out the way of proper city foods that i cant even get the takeaways that deliver insist on a £10 minimum order and a £2 delivery charge if they'll even agree to drive out my way at all.
...and yes, i lived in california for a year so i know what real US fast food portions and prices are like - US maccy d's is actually quite nice compared to the UK stuff!
i always thought fast food was supposed to be cheap, tasty (i.e. fatty/salty) and easy to get - in the uk it is often kinda pricey for the amount, unpleasant to eat and not always quick/easy to get. kinda kills the whole point.
i make the mistake of watching Man V. Food too often and lusting after the amazing wonders that US food places can provide _________________ http://thomaswulfe.bandcamp.com/

I used to live on fast food. It was not unusual for me to eat a fast food meal 6 times a week. Now I fear I've done irreparable harm to my body. My GI tract is definitely fucked up and I suspect my arteries and heart are full of plaque.
Bottom line - that shit is poison.
That being said, McD for sure. More variety and they have those yummy apple pies. Chicken nuggets, despite being actually toxic, are amazingly tasty when dipped in that flavored sugar sludge nugget sauce (Sweet and Sour was my fav).
Taco Bell basically just serves one thing packaged a bunch of different ways. The "meat product" used in Taco Bell products is foul - not suitable for human or animal consumption.
Haven't had any fast food in years and don't plan to go back. |

If I go to TB I always get chicken - definitely better than the "beef".
Jack in the Crack is usually 24hrs but most of the menu is inedible (wish they'd bring back the deli meat subs they had for a while or the ciabata bread chicked sandwiches).
In n Out is open until 2am here too. _________________ Doug

Yes. Gas station dinner for me is a package of peanuts and a banana. Why do gas stations always have bananas? (at least they always do in the cities I've lived in) |

Reece's Cups only work when you've been smoking or just have the basic late night munchies. When you're drinking heavy convenience stores simply don't suffice. I suppose I'm talking about some hard core drinking and eating here!
Denny's and around here Famous Amos (yes Amos) are both 24 hour options but I suppose I'm talking about drive thru take out and go home nom nom. _________________ "Sell crazy someplace else. We're all stocked up here." - Melvin Udall |

Late night after the club empties out I prefer the tastiest of all delicacies.... the Dirty Sausage. That delicious, greasy sausage covered in peppers and onions and generous helping of spicy mustard...often times cooked and sold right off the sidewalk by dubious parties. If eating spicy grilled mystery meats at 4am while drunk is wrong, I don't wanna be right! _________________ Gearing up to get down

don't make it out till late at night, so we'd be talking breakfast menu
About the safest chain fast-food place I can handle is Dunkin Donuts,
and that's for one item only. Egg, Sesame Bagel, Cheese. Hard to f-up.
But if I need to take one for the team so I can provide a constant flow of
healthy, filtered protein, Taco Bell. _________________

Yeah, any place that does tacos and burgers is is great for late night munchies.
When I lived in Long Beach there was a Brite Spot on Anaheim that delivered until 3am. Tacos camarones at 3am are a magical thing. _________________ "Thank god for the drugs and drums." El-P

It really all depends on where you are.
Around here, Wendys is the one and only and luckily, not bad at all!
In Cambridge near MIT, there's either the MIT coop or 7-11 or a couple of
hole-in-the-walls that I've not dealt with much any more.
But in Dublin, there's Apache Pizza. A-MA-ZiNG! Especially if you've already had a
few beers, they'll sell you a slice for a couple of euros and you'd be good to go. There
were a few good rasher places but Apache was the way to go for walkin' food (you
could eat it walkin' to the next pub!)
Many the time I'd hit the one on Dame street, or the one out by Dublin City University,
though the rashers right outside the DCU west entrance ("Macari's Takeaway", or
so Google Maps informs me) was actually pretty darn good.
Gawd, I miss those times. Schwarma at Macari's.

hummus coated in basil and fresh tomatoes with extra virgin olive sprinkled on top. toast some garlic ciabatta bread on one side in the broiler and dip and go!
i only toast the one side of the bread because if i toast both it always seems to scratch and burn the roof of my mouth. _________________ Brian

If I had to choose, I would pick Taco Bell, mc donalds seems more like a daytime food.
If I had a choice, Jack in the Box is the best for late night runs as they have the best selection of grub. |

Sheeeyatt!
If you are drunk enough to think about McDouche or that flesh-eating taqueria, then you need to just keep on drinking 'till dawn. Then you go to the finest local lunch restaurant and bug out or throw-up on the floor as the church crowd lets out and shows up. That's drinkin' and eatin! _________________ OpenTape

If it's a choice between the two s in the topic, I pick TacoBell if I want the hershey squirts sooner than later, McD if I have to pic one or the other.
But I'll go with a late night real taco from a cart or truck over both. Plenty of other cheap late night eats, besides, I have no Taco Bell in my area, I live just across from East LA, Taco Bell would go under around here... |

| I always assumed the taco "meat" at taco bell was just shredded paper soaked in "meat flavoring from concentrate" or something... so McDonalds is the option I usually choose when stuck in that situation. |
