Richard Lerman is great! I did a workshop with him in 2001 on piezos and building your own mic preamps. There's a lot of good notes in the PDFs on his site.
He did a cool performance where he had the piezos suspended in between two wires which he heated with a blowtorch. Cool listening to the expansion and contraction. |

and since it is passive, i thought about putting an fsr on it on order to have amplitude flexibility. it would be easy enough to situate the fsr in order to be able to hold it down just be holding the device or putting a weight on it or something. _________________ my bandcamp

Lovely!
(seem to have missed this)
Interesting. Could you elaborate on how you connected it to the Dark Energy - ext. audio in, cv inputs, or both?
Nice song, btw. _________________ NOISE HEALS.

sorry for the delay - been on hols!
Pretty sure it was straight into the Ext Audio input, then sampled with an MPC I think...

nice work dude - loving the boxing... not sure about the noise probs tho - don't think I had any real issue with it |

They shouldn't hum or require massive gain - what is the pressure pad doing? Also, ensure you have the metal disc to ground and the ceramic disc to signal - the Maplin (Radioshack equivalent in UK) piezo mics confusingly have red (usually +ve colour) connected to the metal and black to the ceramic. (well, we always knew they were f-tards..) _________________ http://www.bugbrand.co.uk
