GROUP BUY NOW CLOSED Multiples of 50 please. Minimum 50. Europe only.
You must have a Muffwiggler post count of 50+ to order.
Mentions in the good trader thread in BST are nice but not necessarily required...

Variants of this mono, 3.5mm switching jack are the type Make Noise, Cwejman, Wiard & Harvestman use. This is the best variant for DIY IMO, as also recommended by Clarke68 on his panel runs.

These aren't back in stock at Mouser until early July (thank god I have a stash man) so it seems like a good time to build up a Group buy.

I'm going to require everyone to pay in advance of me making the final order, and I'll be strict about the cutoff date, let's set a preliminary payment period of June 25th - July 4th. Shipping will be recorded/registered. I'm going to be transparent about costs and I'll add on 5% for my time and to help me cover any that go missing in the post etc. If it goes beyond 3000 pieces I may revise that %.

So prices including UK VAT and my 5% (not including shipping) are:

Total Order_____Price for 50
1000+________£13.48
2000 +________£12.58
5000+_________£11.53 <- Current Price Estimate

You should expect to receive these mid July.

POSTAGE COSTS IN GBP

If you are in the US and want some then please go ahead and set up a US group buy smile Having these come over from Texas and then sent back over the Atlantic again would be kinda absurd. Dead Banana

I'm reserving for 100 for now but probably later will considerably increase the amount.
And I'm also interested in the same Kobiconn but stereo-jacks which could be put at the cv\audio outputs by soldering the ring leg to GND and do not mess with the common GND wiring when attaching these jacks to PCB directly like Harvestman and MN do (I suppose, Cwejman uses another jacks manufacturer)
The Chinese clones sold bz Musikding.de or Banzaimusic.de are lo quality and unreliable.

Cwejman uses these but with another nuts.
I'll be at least in 300 or maybe in 500, will decide later.

How about group buy of these Lumberg 3.5 plugs?

well pots for attenuators... you could use so many different types. I'm looking into knobs, but for example Banzai don't offer discounts for bulk over 100 on the Davies clones so it doesn't really seem worth it.

Steve,

You need to remind people that the price will be another 20% higher than the price on the links, as, whilst mouser covers the duty, they dont cover the vat.

So people need to multiply the listed price by 1.25 to get their actual price.

I may be interested if the order gets vast.

Good point. i'm not VAT eligable in the UK or europe so I'm confused as for if this order is including the VAT?

UK VAT is 20%. I'm only doing this for a good deal, so if anyone else can get us a better deal on sales tax and wants to take on the responsibility I'm totally cool with that thumbs up

Steve will have to pay the 20% upon delivery of the goods.
At that point its done - no real way of getting it back (not for steve's 5% handling fee anyhow!)

Anyone who does not have to pay EU taxes may, or may not, do better running their own small, individual order, as the quantity break would be worth less to them than the 20% tax they would needlessly have to pay.

Tax gets in my way all the time with my own sales. Within the eu its simple, but outside of the trade agreement area, its irritating.

I looked through all the available plugs but these Lumbergs liked me more. I have experience with Lumberg jacks, they are hi-quality.

I'm fine with these. Just got them this morning and the quality is good. The metal sleeve is better than the plastic ones I bought locally, which look like those Lumberg (for 1,75 euro each Dead Banana )

http://www.taydaelectronics.com/hardware/3-5mm-plugs-jacks/3-5mm-stere o-enclosed-socket.html

i bought 10 figuring i'd try them, but haven't got there yet. they look the same as the kobiconn ones from mouser.

FYI - DO *****NOT***** ORDER 3.5MM JACKS FROM FUTURLEC - THEY'RE CRAP!!!!! i've had a number break and they sent at least a dozen ones without threaded ends..... angry

What is the pinout on these? I've designed a board for the Erthenvar vertical jacks, wondering if there's any way these could be hacked onto it

only ground connection from another side, but it's no problem if to use metal frontpanel - enough to connect ground somewhere once.

Got my Tayda ones 2 weeks ago, cheap crap I'm afraid. They were actually mono not stereo and made badly, the folded metal that makes contact with the tip of the jack isn't held in place very well causing it to move when a plug is inserted. Hence why I'm getting 100 of this group buy.

Upped my order from 150 to 300.
I'd like to see a group buy for 9mm pots...

These

and these
http://www.smallbearelec.com/servlet/Detail?no=693
are what I was planning on buying.
(and also these haha http://www.smallbearelec.com/servlet/Detail?no=1186)
I've never bought pots before so I'm definitely open to better ideas.

Hmm, how much would shipping be roughly?
Sorry to do this, but depending on the price of shipping, if this doesn't get to 5000 I might be better off just getting these with the rest of my personal Mouser order. Should have done the numbers properly before posting, my bad.

hey rowman, yeah I did wonder if you'll end up paying sales tax/VAT twice because you're in Australia. It'll just be cost plus like 0.5GBP for a jiffy bag, you can check prices at RoyalMail.com

Sales tax for international items in Australia is only on orders over $1000 so it seems like this will be completely painless thumbs up

Please note the current price is clearly highlighted in red in the first post, we're currently in the 2000-5000 order bracket and that price includes UK VAT and my handling fee.

I don't want to jump the gun as we've not ordered yet, and I'm not going to edit the first post just yet either... but these seem to now be listed as 5% cheaper on Mouser for 2000+ than when I started the IC. thumbs up

Do you think about Lumberg plugs? It's possible to make good wires with it.

damn.. do they do any with metal strain relief rather than the black? I have thought about making up my own cables, but I don't like those black plastic bits.

I'll keep this thread in mind...
don't know i'll have budget available when ordertime close...
i do need them for at least 2 quadslope & 2 CLee dual lpg Clarke panels...
that's at least around 80-90 pieces plus more for my backlog, will make it at least 150-200..

no more post from me in this thread means no budget razz

edit: i'll throw this in the group during our next MASK session thumbs up

This is rubber, better if in this place will be rubber, more elastic. Lumberg makes top-quality things.

I think I would personally go for Neutriks as I like their very plain style.. they have no stress relief spring though which is annoying.

OOOOOOO!!! I like black! Correlate with my PCBs new style - gold on black!

Maybe it's possible to use them with more thick cables than usually?

yeah the black are nice smile... the data sheet say they can take 4mm diameter cable, there is also one that takes 6mm cable but it's silver only.

I know it's a matter of taste but I don't like floppy cables.. I'd like to have more rigid cables that hold their shape, I wonder if 4mm is enough for that.

Edit: Ad Infinitum and TipTop StackCables are 3mm diameter cable.

Yes, my cables are too 3mm, only some 4.
4 mm I like more too. But I never buy ready-made ones, I always make myself. After 100s I make them like a pro))

Interesting, which brand uses Buchla for their 30$ each audio cables?

I'll let you know if I do a group buy wink it won't be for a few months yet though.

How quickly can you make a cable up once you are up to speed?

It's depend which cable, how quick possible to prepare it to soldering. Soldering itself is very quick. I use orthophosphoric acid as flux.

ok it seems like we'll very probably be sticking in the 2000-5000 price bracket if everyone orders (at either the minimum or maximum that people specified).

Getting another 1500 added doesn't seem impossible though. Any more big takers?

Bump! turning this into an order soon

we're only 800 pieces off the 5000 price break, I can't imagine that threshold would be broken again any time soon!

Postage and packing will be at actual cost, my handling fee is only on the jacks themselves.

I don't think anyone will be unhappy about shipping costs.

The 4550 total on the front page is assuming everyone buys the max they mentioned.

Some people have just said something like '100+'. So now would be a good time to get some more solid ideas of actual max, let's assume we break 5000 now.

If anyone needs to dial back figures they've mentioned to date, now is the time to let me know.

how does everyone feel about pulling the payment cutoff date forward to June 25th? Please PM me if that's a problem for you.

I'm conscious that we're now going to account for a majority of the order Mouser will have shipped to them on the 27th.

Hi all the prices in the first thread are now fixed (they just rose by £0.13 for 50 pieces compared to previously to account for changes in price at Mouser and paypal fees)

ok thanks mouldi101

I also added 50 to my order which brings us to 5000 smile

Order details are in the second thread.

Please note I intend to ship jacks out in the order in which they are paid for. So say we actually end up in the situation where we get close to the amount Mouser are restocking (8000) I'll need to supply the people who pay early first.

I can definitely hook you up with some hot jack action.

Thanks to everyone who has responded so far, I've had the details through for about half of the 5000, keep em coming!

First invoices will go out tonight.

ok we're halfway to the goal, 2700 paid for.

So far we have 4300 invoiced for in total, so need another 700 in orders to hit the 5000 price break.

ok, is anyone who is expecting to be invoiced still waiting?

I'm actually in a position now where i'll probably put the order in before Monday, but please do endeavor to pay me by monday so I don't incur credit card interest!

I'm also going to still have spares for sale as I'm ordering extras, so keep the orders coming.

the 2nd post in the thread is now updated with the statuses of everyone who has ordered or shown interest.

I haven't made the effort to track the amounts people have ordered here, your invoice is the reliable confirmation of how many you have ordered.

So Mouser did have the ~7000 pieces due in tomorrow, 27th June, they've now pushed this back to 5th July. will keep you informed. you can view delivery dates here - http://uk.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Kobiconn/16PJ138/?qs=oQGaBZOgWEbaXS fkKZSXCA%3d%3d

So a bit annoying but the order is in anyway SlayerBadger!

Mouser say:

"I checked your order and it seems that the 5th of July is a confirmed in-stocked date for Mouser so you could expect the parcel to be shipped out to you from Texas by the next day."

http://uk.mouser.com/search/include/aoo_popup.aspx?mouserpartnumber=16 PJ138

Rest assured guys that I already have the address labels printed, attached to envelopes, with customs forms filled out. When these hit my doorstep they'll be on their journey to you 2 hours later thumbs up

They're actually two different ones, places I ordered from in the past are Conrad (in NL, but I assume they have the same assortment in Germany), and Rapid in the UK. IIRC, I have also ordered some on eBay, but that's a long time ago. Conrad or Rapid are the most likely candidates.

Monobass, thanks!

Should have gotten in on this. I have a PCB on the way here that takes 28 of these jacks. There's actually 10 of these PCBs coming, but with any luck they are faulty and I don't need these jacks so bad...

hmmm.....

I'll have extras so if people want to start queuing up for those please post how many you want in this thread, don't PM me as I might miss it.

I won't deal with extras until all current orders are fulfilled, and I can't confirm how many I'll have spare yet.

That's good news, BUT, isn't "soon" logistics-speak for "we don't really know when the buggers will finally be in our warehouse"? razz

Still, kickass job Monobass! Can't wait to get my hands on them (been using all sorts of shite I had in my partsboxes).

They say they have them in the warehouse so fingers crossed.. I might even be able to ship out this saturday based on how long it's taken things to turn up from Mouser at this point.

Yeah, I'm just coming to the end of three months off work, being a fulltime dad, I'm not sure I'll be doing so many group buys once I go back to work! But I have a pretty good system in place now, so it's not impossible.

Congrats on the kid! But two is a LOT busier, that will take a significant chunk out of your spare time. We have two and that's plenty. Luckily the wife is now convinced of that too.

Do wonder if they can make up for the lost hobby time later on, to help stuff pcb's, assemble kits etc. might be a few years though (mine are 3 and 1). Mr. Green

I dropped you an email Lockheed. I would have expected everyone to received them by now. 99% of you went for the insured option so it should be ok.

Thanks monobass, I'm hoping they'll arrive some day. Let's wait a couple of weeks.

EDIT: 150 jacks came in today's mail. The parcel had apparently taken a little detour as it was pretty beaten up, but contents intact w00t

Hi!

Any chance of doing another group buy anytime soon?

I might be interested in doing that if we could get to 5000 mark again...If anyone wants single orders of 500+ then drop me a PM.
