I saw in one of Johnny's lzx demos that he was using the moddemix within an lzx patch - is it a useful module within an lzx system? would it mostly - visually just serve as a VCA ?

also what do you think a bit crusher like the malgorithm like FM-ing a video wave form Generator ? would it just be like chaos?

thanks
jjr

A bit crusher is going to be very jittery and noisy when used on a video signal, unless you have some way to phase-lock/sync it to video line rate. It should be fine on audio-rate or LFO rate signals though.

Moddemix is a 4-quadrant multiplier I believe, it'll give you different results than a VCA, but very similar. I think you'll want to use bipolar signals with it, too.

I would love a video bit modifier, so much fun can be had with bitshifting and bitcombining signals, but yeah, the jittering is terrible with the a-189-1 from doepfer. If it was pll-locked it could be cool. Hmm, maybe modify it to run off a pll'ed clock? twisted
