all us west-coast (and utah) wigglers should be able to catch this evening's annular solar eclipse (at 6:26pm pst).
please post pictures here, should you take any nice ones! but be careful not to look straight at the sun (you'll need special sunglasses to protect your eyes if you insist)!
i think i'll film it...

The map below shows the path where it will be most centered.
I'm right at the tail end of it in Lubbock. I'm going to go out and get some pictures, but at the moment we have a lot of clouds so I hope they clear out.

well, sky was completely cloudless and blue here... but the eclipse turned out to be *extremely subtle* from where i was viewing. i couldn't see any change at all in the sun's brightness in the vid i took of the supposed 4 minutes of maximum shadow (the sun just like whiter than normal, and the sky more blue)!
i still might try to edit the vid into something interesting... maybe 42 vcos into 6 vcfs spread over 7 octaves or something like that as the soundtrack... and i did get some cool sunlight-through-the-blinds-on-the-wall-with-shadows, like Orbless posted above, at around 7pm that can be cut into the portion where the eclipse was supposed to be happening.

Living in Iowa, there was no chance of seeing it this time around. Bummer. Then again, only a select few were able to see it like this:
I did get to see the one 18 years ago, while in grade school. |
