I was under the impression Zthee wasn’t really into doing panel designs anymore. A panel-mount PCB would be wonderful, have you seen the wiring on a completed Klee? It’s fairly insane. Making everything fit behind a 7”X8.5” panel might be rough. I can definitely put the idea on the list of eventual panels. If people have more ideas on where to go with a buchlish Klee panel please share. _________________ DIY panels and PCBs for Buchla and Euro format: http://synthpanels.blogspot.de/

Yeah, I think the wiring would drive me insane ... but it looks so cool!

Does the lanterman easel pulser allow you to control pulse width (length), either manually or with cv? I haven't wrapped my head around the inputs and outputs on the pcb yet but I can't seem to find this feature anywhere. |

Zthee is probably going to do a run of the panels pro screenprinted with the right colour and all plus daughterboard, we talked about it the other day.
He'll let you know when it's time! |

Yeah a panel mount pcb would be wonderful! I think its also a must for Zthees design since theres no holes to hold the sliderpots (and no room to add them). To use my design you have to build a subpanel to hold the sliderpots (and subpanel is held by the switches). |

I have wired one klee, it is pretty intense to say the least! Some kind of doughterboard would be almost essential to make that panel size work IMO.

Would be awesome of Zthee came up with that Klee design. _________________ WTB Buchla 100 modules

I already have a spare fonik vc clock pcb, that's why I thought it could be re-purposed to a 140 type panel _________________ "Noise is what the Earth is made of" - David Bowie |

This is true, I don't think it has PWM but it does have a lot of other options. Some of its potential I haven't really wrapped my head around yet. I brought up another thread to help get answers:

Yeah, I'm having a little trouble understanding what the lanterman pulser does and what it would be useful for. I'll keep an eye on that thread. |

It’s really just a trigger generator like the 140 (and the left sections of the 245/6). I’ve looked at the schematic a little and think I have a better idea of how it functions. It does have some cool extras. If you just looked here: http://modularsynthesis.com/lanterman/pulser/pulser.htm this is a simple build omitting a lot of what it can do but it gives you an idea of the base functionality. It doesn’t have PWM as far as I know and I haven’t looked into how that might be added. I’ll go down the line comparing a 140 panel to what the pulser PCB offers:
Outputs: It has 2 primary outputs CV(saw wave) and pulse. These outputs can be doubled and utilized with the “enable” features. I’m not clear on what the “alternate” outputs are on the 140
Inputs: Looking at the schematics I now believe that it does have start and stop already implemented. I thought “NOT” was an output but now I think they are the “Stop” inputs. The Start inputs are the “enable” inputs. What this feature does is basically create a voltage controlled gate for the outputs. When the voltage is going to the input it open the pulsing outputs. When the voltage goes into the “NOT” or stop it shuts the switch so no output. One of these could be wired so it doesn’t have the gate and is free running and the second could be used with the gating input for a couple different options. It’s can be bit more flexible in this regard than the 140.
Mode: I think all modes can be implemented with the pulser. Lanterman suggests a repetitive, single pulse and off setting.
Pulse Length: Again, I’m not sure how and if this feature can be easily added to the pulser. It’s the biggest omission.
Period: It has all the features of the 140 with the addition of a CV amount pot
The pulser also has a few things not implemented on the 140:
- CV inversion which can just be used with in and out to invert any signal (also seen on the music easel).
- Period CV input attenuation as mentioned above.
- As mentioned above you have some of options/flexibility with the start/stop (enable) functionality. Personally I would wire to eliminate enable A so you always pulse and CV on that output (dependent of course on how you have it running on your switch)then have the start/stop (or enable, NOT) on the B so you can gate the output CV/Pulse based on the start/stop CV inputs. Start might be poor terminology as it is really opening the switch to the let pulses through on the output and not actually starting the pulsing.
- It also has 2 extra enable switches that could be used as VC gates (enabled/disabled the same way B is above). _________________ DIY panels and PCBs for Buchla and Euro format: http://synthpanels.blogspot.de/

You could always add a comparator + pot on the saw output to manually set pulse width.
(It may even be using a comparator to create the pulse output, which you could piggy-back on - I haven't looked at the schematic in a while.) |

So just for the sake of consolidating my rants I'm reposting this. Over on the other Buchla panel thread we talked about the possibility of building a Serge Resonant EQ into a Buchla 295ish panel. We did notice some spots in the schematic that will allow you to tap out individual frequency bands from the Resonant EQ. Just a potential module to add to the list and for you all to consider.
If RSFC gets tired of all of these requests and projects, I suppose I could learn FPE and help out (and not be completely useless).

I think I am just about done on the 291 design for the next batch/run:
