i f suffer from insomania from my 18 and it never went away i'm 36 now
its horible sometimes, i'm a night creature a lot (not always good)
i take melatonine and a insleeper (no real sleeping pill) but if i don't take it i just can't sleep, very horrible when i forget it or you have to have it always with you if you stay a night over at someone.
i mostly listen to 1 record (sometimes 2) while laying in bed, so my mind gets distracted of being a thinking bomb)

hope to work more on trying to do meditation or getting quiet rest moments in the day, trying to get more quality time in my day, than feeling always stressed up or unable to concentrate on stuff, hope it works out and finding a middle way by having some discipline and not to force it and not being too afraid to take it in hands

Yeah, I would suggest some green for that. But don't make it a habit.

One technique I use when trying to fall asleep is intense visualization. I have two scenarios that I focus on. The first is I just lay in bed and visualize with all of my ability a planet of my choice rotating in the vacuum of space. Having read enough books and watched enough videos, I can pretty easily visualize a planet so I just sit there in space and watch and listen to the vacuum.

The other thing I think about, and this is pretty lame, is pitching in baseball. Having played the sport and watched my fare share, it's not hard for me to visualize. So I slow everything down and visualize pitching to different hitters. I visualize the crowd, the grass, the catcher, the count, how to hold the ball, etc. etc. I just focus and don't allow my mind to drift. Usually at some point I slow down my mind enough and this turns into a dream/sleep.

It's pretty crazy but it works for me .

If I need to sleep, I can't get up or I'll just get distracted and stay up. If I listen to music or a book I'll just hyper-focus on the audio.

But, as per usual, I support everything babaluma has said hihi
