roland kayn is absolutely THE man... just incredible stuff. it's a shame in a way his best stuff is unavailable now, despite there being tons of cds out on his own label. i bought the lp boxsets in the late 80's at, of all places, a supermarket in germany. i've been obsessed with him since. so sad that he has passed, btu he kept doing things until the end, some of his later works are kind of confounding. there was a 4cd version of Tektra, but if you have a chance, definitely check out Infra. Any of the older releases are just meticulous and fantastic.

Glad others are listening to him. I found out about him a year or two ago. Most of his stuff is obscenely rare & expensive, but this can be had for a non-insane price:

Then you can power up to the Tektra 4CD.

Sonically he reminds me of Maryanne Amacher sometimes. Any other relevant artists here? "Cybernetic music"ians?

I wish we knew more about his patching technique. Anyone want to translate all those German liner notes? thumbs up

i love his stuff, he seems a bit unsung imo + i've never seen a modular as wildly patched as that one.

What the hell is behind all those wires.
And yes I agree, RK is totally fantastic and dense and deep and lovely.

Kayns music was payed in Paradiso (old church) at the Sonic Acts festival in Amsterdam. (mesmerised me)
http://2012.sonicacts.com/index.php#roland-kayn

here's a radio special where Kayn talks in Dutch with nice German accent:
http://www.vpro.nl/programma/cafesonore/afleveringen/14196545/

and here's Leo Küpper with his system in the Van Gogh museum.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WqGFMXVv60

He worked toghether with Kayn.
And their systems look alike.
I'd really like to learn more about this.
