So this isn't anything new or exciting, but I figured I'd share it because it gave me a bit of joy. I'm constantly trying to come up with different performance interfaces for my live shows. In this vid it's pretty simple: ice melts into a metal bowl affixed with a contact microphone. signal goes into a-119 -> rcd -> rene. i'll try to make a more musical example when i have a chance.

That is really cool, great idea. I love contact mics, cheap and versatile is always a great combination in my book.

That's really clever!

Also, Translogic - Contact mics are really easy to make, and I'm pretty damn terrible at soldering, they're about the only thing I can do that works for any prolonged period of time. Just do a search, they're a few good simple "pictorial" instructions out there. I'd like to try my hand at making a simple piezo pre amp one of these days, but I really havn't found the need for one when just sending the mic through some pedals into a amp or mixer.

woah, wayyyy cool.. ilove those sounds coming out of the modular too. its like water dripping in a cold vast gravity-less echo chamber suspended in space. how does it sound when you pour water into the bucket??like crazy noise?

Thank you. I had a cheap contact mic sitting around but probably would never have thought of this. I attached it to a cardboard phone box and sent that to an envelope generator. Now I have crude but definitely useable drum trigger. So much fun.

great!, nice to see something out of the ordinary as a trigger/source. and ice/water is close to our hearts.
visually cool as well

as an aside, michael colligan here in chicago is in a project called Friction Brothers and uses dry ice that he then applies hot kettles to. lovely friction scraping sounds. no modular but ice. sorry for the detour.
cheers &
happy new year

I love the sounds! A sharp recording would make for some really great and unique percussion samples.

This is awesome. I had put my a 119 away because I never used it, I hooked it back up about a week ago and I can't keep my hands off of it. Now I think I need two or three!
