Hello. This is Raul. I just began today my 10 part series on the Doepfer A 188-2 Tapped BBD Delay.
The first video is Doepfer A188-2 Tapped BBD Delay Module Basics, no sound demos in this one.

The second for those who like to go right into audio demonstrations is here:

Raul, your videos are always great although albeit tiresome at some times. razz

I love the old BBD series and it was extremely helpful with my TWO BBD modules.

I'll certainly look into these new videos, although I'm not sure I'll ever buy a tapped bbd delay. Is it any good?

I think its great.IF you're really into delays, which I've found I am, than you'll appreciate it. The ability to patch the different taps back into the feedback in gets some really amazing sounds. Very differnet form the A188-1(4096).
This one is a keeper for me.
cool

I have to admit Doepfer outdid himself with the BBD series. I have the 4096 and the 256 beside it. Counting all the ins/outs you can connect between these two my first impression was: why the hell are they making all this fuss about the Echophone?

These modules indeed kick ass. Is the feedback-in the same as on those single BBD modules?

I'll probably just add the Tapped BBD beside the 4096 and 256, I think these will be enough. lol

The demos I have seen look pretty cool. I can't wait to explore one. Another unique take on a Delay and from the looks of it, pretty amazing stuff comes out.

It would work the same for patching voltage controlled feedback, but different options available since you can patch a different tap to change the timbre of the output. pretty cool stuff. One of the last videos in this series discusses Feedback and really makes interesting stuff happen.
thumbs up

Not exactly.
Someone correct me if I am wrong here since I am going from memory. To create Voltage Controlled Feedback with the A188-1 you would have to patch the BBD out>>VCA or Filter>>back to EXT Feedback in of the A188-1. So the EXT feedback in should still be audio.

The second part of the patch to voltage control the feedback would be to patch an LFO or some CV source to modulate the amplitude of the VCA or Filter.

A cool effect. But on the A188-2 a voltage controlled feedback patch would still have to be done this way, out to a VCA or Filter. It cannot be done standalone with the A188-2.

Hope this makes sense.

Yeah, that's what I thought myself. It works like a Send-Return so you can filter/attenuate/whatever the Feedback.

What I like to do is get the feedback of the 4096 into the 256 and the 256's feedback into the 4096. Cool stuff there.

So you take the BBD out from one into the other and vice versa?
That sounds interesting. Maybe another A188-1 is in my future.. hihi

I divide my insanity between the numerous inputs/outputs of the 256, 4096 and a108 that I have for filtering right next to them.

Next on my list is the reverb and a quadpanner by ADDAC. Things are going to get crazy thumbs up

Hello again. I just updated a survey I have regarding interest in future videos. If you haven't already please take a little time and fill it out if you can.
Or if you feel very strongly about something, fill it out twice. Just kidding. Sort of.

Survey for future Doepfer Module videos

Thanks all. thumbs up

Two BBD's, A and B.

Plug something into Audio in (A)
Copy of Audio in (A) -> Audio in (B)
BBD output (A) -> feedback in (B)
BBD output (B) -> feedback in (A)
Mix output to console, hard panned left and right
Original Signal into console

Make sure the polarity switches are inverted between the two BBDs. (if A is + then B is -)

Stereo Delay with phased out signals.

It's 6:30 in the morning and I haven't slept yet. Dead Banana

The Echophon is pretty unique, as much my 188-2 and 188-1 x3( 256/512/4096) if you like one you'll likely like the other. I'd still like an 128 188-1.
This was incredible for Dieter to release such crazy great beasts! The 101-3 is another great!

I've been thinking of going for the whole series at some point in the future. Seriously, these are really great modules. I do detest the high pitched sound they make, you need at least one filter for each one to get rid of that. But they are great none the less. Crazy and flexible as hell!

Next on the list is surely the a188-2. That will satiate me for a while and the videos made sure it climbed up top. (Thanks Raul)

So, what about the a101-3? I don't like phaser pedal effects. Can it pull out cooler stuff than that? (surely it does)
