yerrr, i can see the suitabililty, i just have an automatic gag response to excessively filtered dry-wretching noises (ahem, i mean dubstep)

That was actually "Bonfire" by Knife Party, which are an offshoot of Pendulum -- and Pendulum / Knife Party have been using that particular tonal palette for far longer than it has been "hip". Pendulum's "The Island" -- which features a lot of the now-commonplace dubstep phonemes -- was released about a month before Skrillex's debut EP. I'm not trying to defend the fact that the "dubstep" trope has become a grossly commercialized cliché, but I am at least pointing out that the piece of music used has a little more cred than most.

I was tickled to hear it, personally. A nod to electronic music always wins in my book. The director could easily have specified a Kid Rock tune for that cue, for example.

Cheers,
-ian

PS also, best moment ever:

Skrillex doen't ruin it for me. It's a great story/experience and the music is always part of the date and psychology. Skrillex isn't so bad to destory the context of the story. FFS it's a small part of an episode anyhow.

I'd love to go on a Pendulum / Knife Party rant, but it just gets old after a while, especially when you've read it all before on the DOA forums.

We should be focusing on the real issue... What type of wood-chipper Skyler should be thrown through.

I thought the dubstep was appropriate, actually. I've always felt that music has a silly hyper-masculine kind of ferocity to it. Pretty much perfectly reflects where Walt's at in the moment.

After the expanse of purple in Season 4. Did you notice how it went beyond Marie's house (which it seemed to expand within) to Saul's and others' shirts, etc.? The other color that dominated was green.

Purple vs. Green seemed to be the "pink teddybear" of Season 4.

Any thoughts on what might happen tonight? Last week was a bit boring so I'm hoping tonight Mike dishes out a bit more of what he's really up to.

i get the feeling this season is going to do that balancing act between quality and contextually stupid/over the top
sort of like the last season of the wire where mcnulty creates a fictional serial killer, omar became some kind of super hero, etc
im enjoying it for sure but you know..getting kinda dumb, it is television after all.
