I'm in for a bit of Oakley euro at some point next year when I'm back in the uk... maybe I'll add this to the plan of vca. looks great btw... is that 6hp?
I hope the euro format works out for you... I'm of the opinion euro needs Oakley modules.
there's a link in the other thread to more details... for the lazy it's 75 quid... good price; look forward to hearing some demos. _________________ Listen

yes, some demos will help...sound will be a decisive factor...
without any CV input or other "modular" features I preffer to spend 75 in an electro-harmonix or MXR distortion instead |

Hey Paul,
I think the whole "subforum" thing only serves to get you fewer views. I think you should post your news and gorgeous modules right here.
and yes, there is one of these in my future! |

I agree. The sub-forum is really for support and sneaky previews to modules that are in the offing. I think all the new module announcements should be in the 5U or Euro forums. I'll leave Paul to do all the completed module announcements, while I'll chip in with the new PCBs.

Adding any form of CV would have bumped the price up considerably. And it would have increased the size of the panel too. I guess CV inputs to control gain and dry/wet balance (five knobs and four sockets) could be done with a 8HP panel - maybe something to look at in the future.
But I like to think of this (and any) module as merely one part in a larger system. I do like the general idea of stripped bare core modules and I generally don't do the multiple features in one module.
CV control of gain is achieved by using an external VCA to control the level of the input signal. However, where CV control of any overdrive comes into its own is when the CV controls the cut-off frequency of a filter that processes the signal first.

It's designed to work at modular synth levels so it's more than happy being fed with +/-5V.
But there is a good range from the Gain pot, the core gain can be varied from 20dB to over 40dB. Although there is an effective -20dB pad in front of that to allow it to cope with modular signals.
It's hugely non-linear and the frequency response is far from flat, so I wouldn't recommend it as a pre-amp.

From me now or from Analogue Haven in around 2-3 weeks (all being well with the shipping in the new year) _________________ Cheers

| I will try to make a short demo. I have the 5U version of this permanently wired to the output of the Superladder Diode filter and it is an acid match made in heaven. My use case is simple, overdrive mode, timbre and gain maxed, mix to taste, and an upstream VCA. But it sounds awesome, If You Like That Sort Of Thing. |
