So I just picked up a used a106-6 and I have been starting to try out the different modes and I have noticed two things:

1) When I have a nice thick waveform running through it and a slow LFO to the cutoff (or just moving the cutoff by hand) there are these great sounding "nodes" or resonance as the cutoff changes. Not sure exactly how to describe them.... it seems like they are particular harmonics getting extra emphasis. I don't have the music knowledge of the technical knowledge to describe them much better than that.

If folks really don't know what I'm talking about I'll post an mp3.

Is there a name for this?
Why is this cool thing happening with this filter and not other filters?

2) In the "3a" all pass mode the filter is silent when the frequency knob is fully clockwise. This is a behavior I would expect from a high pass filter, not an all pass filter. Is this normal behavior?

Thanks,

-R

I haven't tried the 3a thing yet but you are right about something magical in the resonance. The sound is best with not too high an input level. Too high and the resonance goes flat.

If the oscs weren't so crappy in the Matrix-12/Xpander, I would have kept mine, the filter was awesome. Now I hear what it does with creamy big waveforms.

hihi Yep it is a very nice and very versatile filter, the resonance is superb on certain settings.

Only had mine a few days so have not tested everything on it, but initial impressions is it is a good acid filter so I guess I'll be keeping him.
