Pondering on building one of these...

Any user opinions?
Noisy?
Enough gain to use with piezo mics?

The gain should be enough:
Quote:
The module has an adjustable gain control (to x1000)

However, I'd rather miss an envelope detector.

On the noise: I've no experience with that module, however, my guess, it won't be particular noisy. It's not that easy to produce a noisy pre-amp with modern day parts. However, it won't be a high-end product.

Ah, yes - I didn't see that "x1000"...

Indeed - I would be highly surprised if this was high-end smile

I have that covered in other formats, but an all-in-one module in 1fw would be awesome.
I could build it as a DIY project, but it would be a difficult fit in my shallow Bug-frames (if in 1fw).

Thanks for the input.

You might be lucky and get hold of Aaron Lanterman's adation of Buchla's Preamp & Envelope Detector:
http://users.ece.gatech.edu/~lanterma/buchla/boards/

I've two boards of them in my backlog. However, I'm undecided whether I want part with them.

Blacet I/O. Two envelopes out (one with lag).

Woah! Awesome! Thanks for the link to this. I wasn't aware of these boards. I'm tempted to try them as a paper circuit, Ciat Lonbarde style.

Yes, thanks - interesting, I seem to have missed he made those Preamp & Envelope Detector boards.
It doesn't look that big either... nice.
