Author What's everyones favourite python library for MIDI?

Hey guys and gals. I'm writing some small programs in Python and I am in need of a good midi library for real time midi in Python but there seems to be a lot to choose from. Does anyone here have a favourite? Rockin' Banana!

Python-rtmidi seems popular. I read about projects that switched over to that library so I decided on trying that one.

I'm trying to configure it for Windows with this guid http://trac.chrisarndt.de/code/wiki/python-rtmidi/install-windows but I think some of this info is outdated.

Everything works for me exept the verification line that should result in true.

Before I could setup python-rtmid I had to download the C++ libraries that come with Visual Studio Communty 2015. This is important for many of the libraries otherwise they won't compile.

I used ctypes to wrap functions from the mac OS X coremidi library. I could then send notes to my daw using a script or on the python prompt.

I find Mido - http://mido.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ - with the rtmidi back-end to be very needs-suiting.
