Hello fellow wigglers!

Presenting my newest IKEA hack: the KUGGISKIFF

A deep skiff made from a Kuggis box, an Isberget tablet stand and some cheap Roger 10" rails from Ebay. Perfect angle, light, looks nice and easy to setup.

What you need:

1x Kuggis box - 7.99€, perfect width for 10" -> http://www.ikea.com/de/de/catalog/products/60280205
1x Isberget tablet stand - 2 for 2.99€ -> http://www.ikea.com/de/de/catalog/products/20302596
4x Roger 10" rails from Ebay - Around 1,80€ each, add 2 more for a 1U utility row -> http://www.ebay.de/itm/Roger-Modulsystem-19-Baugruppentr%C3%A4ger-Rack -10-25-4-cm/190558681582
8x matching screws for the rails
2x threaded strips, cut in the middle to fit 10" or use fitting nuts

And here is the "official" manual wink I hacked together -> https://www.dropbox.com/s/d9khwmjb514h5go/IKEA_KuggiSkiff.pdf?dl=0

You could add a 1U utility row too. I did not, as I don't have the need. The box is made from PET plastic, is very sturdy yet flexible. Drilling holes is a breeze. You can add a PSU inside (I stuffed an old Doepfer DIY PSU inside) or use one of the common row power PSUs.

Happy hacking!

thumbs up

are these the usual m5 screws (and m3 for the rails)?

I think the KUGGIS is also available in a shallow skiff size (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50282304/). Or one could keep the lid and mount the rails a bit lower.

You can see the profile of the Roger rails on ebay:

I am not 100% sure, but it looks like M5 would work for the front part of the rail. I used some screws I had laying around which fit the middle hole of the rail.

For the threaded strips or nuts you'll need 2,5mm ones.

Yes! You can also use the more shallow Kuggis boxes. They have the same hight and width. But then you won't have enough space for an internal PSU I presume. I needed the fit an Erica Synth Polivoks VCO in, so perfect depth for me smile

I also have an old trolley bag which fits two of these perfectly. Guess this could become a nice live skiff setup cool
