Buchla developed around 212: additional module suggestions?

Author Buchla developed around 212: additional module suggestions?
Sir Ruff
Forgive me if there are similar threads out there already, but I'm working with little space here so they may not be applicable.

Trying to figure out the best module options to accompany a 212 in a 2 row x 4HP case. My initial thoughts are just to go 212+ 259 + 245 and be done with it. Although I feel like that is plenty of functionality, the latter modules are 2HP wide, so I lose space for two more potential modules there.

The alternative would be to get something like a 218 and free up the sequencer slot, but seeing as I have no external sequencers, the 245 seems to be a no-brainer. Also, I'm a really big fan of the "all-in-one" self-contained vibe. I also realize that I could go with something like the 158 for a smaller oscillator footprint, but the 259 waveshaping is pretty important to me.

So with that, I'm curious for people's thoughts on the pros/cons of this current layout.

See the suggestion 2/3rds down on this thread

I have a 3 row built around the 212. The 258, 244 and 245 work perfectly together with the 212.

I'd go 212 + 258 ( or 25s if you like the 259 better) + 245 and get an external boat for a 218 or hook an external keyboard.

212, 258, 257, 245 is a great combo. Substituting the 258 for the 25s, and the 257 for 256 is similar territory.
Sir Ruff
Thanks all--some great suggestions here. I wasn't aware of the 25s, so that seems like a nice tradeoff in terms of size/function and frees up a space for attentuation.

The 256 or 257 seem like the standard cv mixing options, but I am curious if the 257 in particular is a better option than some less trad like the Vedic 007, which is philosophically simpler, but offers a lot more mixing options.

I have 212, 258, 257, 245 from lasesentaysiete. It is a complete system that can do some pretty neat stuff, but it is an amazing companion for an Easel.

The 257 scaling and offset are pretty necessary with the 212, since the LPGs have no scaling on the control inputs. The 257 VC crossfade is really neat to play with too.

Very slowly moving towards this

Don't know why it won't let me post an image, but hey ho.

Very nice. Something like where I'm headed I think.

One quick OT question - are the CV outputs of the MARF quantised?

Yeah they can be quantized or continuous.
Still yet to finish putting mine together.

Very nice.

My current plan is: 212 + 25s + 245 + Vedic 007 atten/mixer

Would be nice to have one more sound source, but I think this will be more than enough to start with.

I also have the 212, 258, 257, 245 combination in its own little cabinet.
I think about adding a third row every now and then but never go through with it.

I got an extra 258v if you are on the market.
