| br>Whaddup Rimshots and Cowbells!
There are reams of forum pages about recording to cassette, videocassette, etc and the sonic charms rendered thereby, but I have a question:
Some people, when hitting videotape with high level, think they're hearing tape saturation when what they're really hearing is the VHS deck's Automatic Gain Correction limiter circuit clamping down to avoid signal overload.
Does anyone have any input on this? I'm looking at some dirt cheap pro SVHS decks on Craigslist cause it'd be fun to have true analog scrubbing, some hiss and warmth, etc...but should I be looking at one that has an audio limiter bypass switch? Or is the limiter part of the charm? Make sense??
Thanks for any thoughts! br> br>
