Skylab backpack

Even if my Skylab has the best modular power to weight ratio i know of, I'm still dreaming of a sligthly more protective bag for it. And it would be great to carry it on my back as well. Maybe someone else found something along those lines already? Please tell me about it. Thanks!

I think, unlike Apollo, a backpack was not used for SkyLab. Life support was provided by an umbilical.

What are the dimensions of the Sky Lab when closed?

A military surplus rucksack might be ideal.

Hah! Yes, with a long enough patch cord i might be able to simulate that..

Approximately 567mm x 178mm x 246mm (W, D, H) or 22.32, 7, 9.7 in.

I have thought about this too

A hard shell that could fit the whole padded case would be ideal

A Swedish LK35 rucksack might work for you.
You’d probably have plenty of room to spare for cables, PSU, change of clothes, more cables, mid-performance snacks etc.

You might try something like this (not this exact one):

Or find a Pelican case with the right dimensions.

Thanks for the thoughts. The problem with Pelican cases is that the models that fits the Skylab (with foam) are way to heavy. And I really don't want to check it in when flying. Ideally, I would like the soft case that came with it, but with a harder shell and backpack straps. Seems difficult..
