Power starvation comes with black knobs |

br>Hi, I just thought I should let everyone know that the power starvation comes with black knobs even though all the pictures of it show white knobs.
I didn't take any pictures from the front before I sent it back.

br>what? , just get 4 davies knobs from ADDAC then, takes literally under a minute to swap them. br> br> |

br>They said they wouldn't sell me any but that's not the main reason I sent it back. br> br> |

ok, I can send you 4 white Davies knobs for your black ones they're really not that expensive you know.
BUT..
you're saying the reason for you returning it wasn't the "wrong color of the knobs" but something entirely different... br> br> |

br>yes, I know how easy it is to put knobs on but I think the reason they are putting black knobs on this module is because they had to use a different type of potentiometer then the one that they might have designed this with and now everything will be off axis so if you put the normal white knob on it will not be centered and cover the text graphics on the panel. br> br> |

br> but the davies are smaller than the black ones?
I'm not sure I follow you about the "off axis" part.. br> br> |

br>the black knobs are smaller. they white knobs will not be centered and would cover the text that says positive or negative rail. br> br> |

br>I have an early serial number with the typical cream (not white) knobs found on other ADDAC products. They had to have a layer of rubber/plastic between them and the precision potentiometers (Bournes with 1/8 inch shafts). This is likely the reason for the change.
Ironically, I changed the knobs on mine. I think the OP just wanted to provide info to anyone that's particular on their machine's look. br> br> |

br>This is weird for an ADDAC product Can't you get proper davies knobs from Thonk? I think you can choose the ones that would fit the potentiometer. If not, you can always cut a piece of plastic straw and use that to prevent the knob from being off axis. I mean, Flame used to do that on their factory modules
Anyway, is there a reason this module comes with different pots than usual?!? br> br> |
|
br>ws9848 |
br>except if the potentiometer is not centered in the first place that's not going to help br> br> |

br>Aren't there different types of fillings for the Davies to accommodate different pots? Not sure, but Thonk has some options to allow for D-shat, Doepfer, etc. Just sayin' ... br> br> |

br>the pots were not centered. the one I had looked really sloppy so I think the small black knobs were used because the normal white knobs will cover up text on the panel. I mean..why do they come with black knobs now anyway? and why doesn't it show black knobs on their website? br> br> |

br>That's a shame! I'll put up with somewhat sloppy stuff for my own use but it's not cool to sell new items to customers in that condition IMHO. br> br> |
