And yet another Reverb Module

Author And yet another Reverb Module

Hi,
I did a variant of the notorious BTDR reverb a couple of weeks ago. It is based on the BTDR-2x, which is the 6-pin version with fixed reverb time. Based on the application notes I did some tweaks in order to make it more usable in a modular system:
The input impedance is 100K, so most other modules should be able to drive it.

Variable HPF: The BTDR can growl like hell, especially when hit with low frequencies. But sometimes that is what you need. So the HPF is variable and allows you to tweak it to your taste.

Audio-Thru I: With the "GROWL" settings, it is a cool effect to create dirty 80s-snares. Just send the original signal via the thru to the first vca, while the out of the reverb is send to another one with a longer decay time. Voila, a nice gated reverb effect…

Audio-Thru II: 99% of the time I use the reverb at the end of the signal chain. While it is nice to have the effect while playing around, I use the Audio thru to record the dry signal.

Input Level Control: The BTDR is very sensitive to overloads. So an input attenuator is no luxury, if you need a clean reverb

Output with 100K-GND: In order to minimize noise in the system, I use 100K resistors to ground every OpAmp output.

Digital modules can induce nasty stuff to the power distribution. So low frequency filtering via resistor, high frequency filtering via bead and caps are used.

This is how it looks like:

The PCB is designed to be usable in Eurorack as well as in MOTM systems. There are MTA-headers mirroring the cliff connectors, so it is possible to use any brand you want.

The PCB is available in my shop for 7€ only.

Further circuit pcbs from VDD are available in next days, you stay informed here.

do you have some sound recordings?

..growling : that 'sounds' interesting!! SlayerBadger!

I noticed this on the BTDR3 - imagine the opening sound on Michael Jackson's 'Beat It' or (I think) also on the Band Aid single

Hi, I did a quick and dirty little track to let you hear it. It is more focussed on the distortion effect. I hope it is selfexplaining.

@unrecordings: hihi you are right - why buying a Synclavier when we get the sound like this?

This is great!

Who's keen for a Stereo Module?

The BTDR3 is stereo - i did a little work on it based on Fonik's component values for the BTDR2

@hofmann25: If you are looking for a more polished "hifi" effect, the design of Fonik/unrecordings will be the better choice.
My design can sound nice as well, but it is meant to give you the possibility to use the reverb willfully wrong cool As a result it will sound great, if you know what you are doing. If not, it could shredder your signal...

Which means, one needs both! hihi

Well that's what I'm thinking :-)

When LED-Man's store updates in a few day I might be going shopping

I expect a ring modulator?

a BoM and a wiring plan could make it fool-safe.
Anyway, thank you
