I finished another track with the TG One using the longer samples card to make drones but wanted to really give a go at the looping feature. I ended du doing this in a couple of hours :

A looping drone from the Tip Top Audio TG One with a Cursus drone swelling in and out, Loquelic doing some noise going though a phaser a a couple delays.

Digitakt doing all things percussion.
Analog Heat warming stuff.

I really quite like the dubby vibe in this one.

So more of my stuff using the same setup here : https://soundcloud.com/tumulishoomaroom

Sounds really good! I love the drone chug SlayerBadger!

Thank you very much ! I like the drones too smile

Here's another one in a similar vein to test out Manis Iteritas :

Love both of these, especially the first one. Reminds me of Marcel Dettman, very slick! How did you make the kick? Got a real nice refined punch to it.

Thank you very much !
I haven't messed with creating my own kicks much yet, this one is a sample processed a little in the Digitakt, definitely some low pass, but nothing crazy. It's a simple kick really, not too much low end since the drone is already quite heavy sub-wise. The Analog Heats helps a lot to have it stand out, with the pseudo compression.

Great stuff!!

Thank you ! That's really appreciated !

Thank you ! Very appreciated !

Here's a new one, a new take on a previous drone loop :

Manis Iteritas does the stabs coming halfway, Chimera does all sorts of noises/hats and then the Digitakt does the rest of the percussion duties while the Heat, as usual, HEATS.

Forgot to post here for a while ! Here's something new; an embryo of a live set I'm working on with a friend. It is half my modular and digitakt and half his Ableton and controllers. We've had a lot of fun recording this live straight from the mixer, now we need to push it to 45min/1h !

Hope you enjoy !

So funny, I've been working on a similar idea for the last month or so. 45min/1hour improvised set using a 6U case and some other bits and pieces of gear. It takes a lot of planning and patching wouldn't you say?

A lot of the "modular jams" I see online wouldn't work in front of an audience who are not into modulars. Yours is the first one I heard that could totally work in a club. It sounds great, both sonically and musically. Keep us posted thumbs up

I does indeed take a lot of clever patching and a lot of planning. There's nothing quite like putting you in this "live" mindset to streamline your 6u; I know I've changed it a lot because I could tell immediately things that worked and things that didn't. I've very recently acquired a ER-101 and I think this is going to be key in being able to keep prepare things in advance and have a good chunk of sequences ready to be live tweaked. But it would be a lot more stressful to do all this by myself; it's great to have someone else taking care of the kicks for example, you know he'll hammer something while I'm tweaking a patch on the modular. It is a really good mix. I think the modular sounds mesh really well with those of his plug-ins; obviously I can tell which is which but I don't think there's such a gap in timbres and feeling.

In any case thank you for listening ! The goal is definitely to be able to play clubs and an audience that just wanna dance and doesn't give a damn if I'm using a modular or whatever; so there's a strong incentive to keep things going strong at all times.

I certainly could not tell which was modular and which was ableton, so you've definitely succeeded there. I think if the audience knows that you are playing live they will grant you a little more patience, but not a whole lot. So transitions become really important - how and when? - probably a lot to learn from DJs in that department.

I've arranged and re-arranged my rack a few times over as well. I finally ordered the last few modules that I realized I needed, so I should start practicing soon. It's funny how we lust over the fanciest oscillators and then end up getting a slew limiter (I know I did). hihi
