Essentially old EE books written before ICs existed. really interesting to see old implementations of stuff we take for granted now—also TUBE DATASHEETS!
I found some old sylvania tubes (12AB5s, 12AT7, 12AX7) in a wollensak t-1500 i snagged for $5 and wanted to get an idea of what i may be getting myself into... it's a lot. i've gotten myself into a lot. MY ASS IS BLEEDING

Here is the National Semiconductor Transistor Databook from 1982. Chapters 8, 9, and 10 list the processes used to make all the transistor types. If you find yourself asking whether one part will substitute for another this is where you find the answer.
