That looks awesome. How is it lit? Is the pink light inside the case?
Bryan B
The lighting guru (Max) came by and put some gels on the 3 smaller lights I brought to give them some color. I think they are normally the kind of lights you put under kitchen cabinets (3" diameter). We just put them through the handle holes on the side of the cases. The other light is from either my computer screen or the blue light next to my computer.
dude
good work!!! how did it sound? what kind of music were you rockin?
Bryan B
I generally play somewhere between Drone based ambient, Electro and Techno. This show I played mostly Electro (not Electro House).

The acrylic modular says "I know what I'm doing..." but the desk lamp and PBR case say "but I'm not above getting dirty in a basement-style".

Also,... heat lamps in August??? Jeez, how cold is it in MN? Had one of my best gigs ever in Minn so I ain't knockin it but still...
Bryan B
Hahaha, nice!

Knock it all you want, this is how we do it on a Thursday night.

Those are huge lights with light bulbs the size of my head (not heat lamps) and they are on a variac to be extremely dim. They look more like rocket boosters in person.

The mag light says "I don't take requests" wink

But it's my friend's birthday and she really wants to hear some Gaga.

Those people just do not appear adequately concerned/impressed that there is a modular in the house. angry

Mr. Green

Sweet! Do you have any mp3s?
Henfield
There you go with more of that Acrylic Case Modular Porn!!! (lol!)

Seriously, once I get my modules squared away, I will be getting a case from you!!

Sounds good! When you know exactly what you want, send me the specs and I will start laying it out for the laser.

I left cabinet #3 at home (because it didn't have the power cables and distro board yet). I finished all that today. I already started making a MOTM format case (#4) for myself since I already have half of a 23-space case worth of that format.

How do you transport thos puppies? In flight cases? Even without cases they must weight a ton! woah
Bryan B
I built them with handle holes on the sides and it is just wide enough for me to be able to carry, fit in my back seat or even in the trunk. The one with the power supply weighs a decent amount, but I am considering building a box just for that (to separate and lighten the load).

I have also found it is actually easier to carry them vertically.

"Free Biiiiird!"

Love the photos, Bryan! Great to see your rig out and about. I wish we could hear some audio from one of your sets. Sounds pretty awesome.

Cheers,
Brian

I am mastering the recording right now actually. As soon as I am happy with it, I will release it to the wild.

This live set included hundreds of loops (of my own material) that I recorded over at least a 3 month period of my free time. It is all music that was never heard before and it is all organized in a way that I could never play it the same way twice. The modular was being trigger by and recorded back into Ableton Live so I was creating a bunch of the music live with it as well. I changed filters 4 times, that is why the cables are hanging out in the pics.

Just beautiful.

I really got a chuckle out of the guy standing there staring at the modular. It is very impressive. I'm afraid I'd be doing the same thing.

I guess you are going for the total immersion thing. Candy for the ears and eyes.
