I guess we have to wait some days until the first users will receive their modules. But the video demo on his site is very good.

my module is in the post nanners

Andre emailed two days ago, i'm next in line to purchase. Need to raise a little capital first, but i'll certainly post demos once i get it smile

Yeah reason I ask is I'm apparently next in line to buy one, and haven't seen much apart from the interesting vids on his site..

Still, looks promising.

Hello all,

just read through the posts,

and yes i started shipping!
just to clarify how the process goes, i've been making 3 at a time and shipping when done
been contacting everyone from the pre-orders by the order i received the emails

soon it will be your turn!
smile

i have to update the website, but it's either that or have them ready to ship, i've also moved to a new studio and don't have internet in there
but there's some new features that are not featured in the video, namely a play once function and a jumper hack to create extra digital glitches, hopefully i'll put the documentation up soon

right now i felt more urgent to put up some sort of a FAQ, with info about the SD card format and file naming requirements, a sketch is already up:
http://andregoncalves.info/addac/?page_id=722

my two hands can do only as much...

all the very best

Received it and tested it out this morning. Great build quality, works as expected. Im gone for a week 2nite but after just 30mins i can already say this will be lotsa fun.

I formated the SD card under Windows and copied the files under windows too. Parallels/winXP/MacBookPro

Received mine, too. Here's a little demo i made:

0'00" - 1'35": drumloop, startpoint modulated by sequencer, cv-range tweaked
1'35" - 2'23": speech-sample, cut-up style
2'23" - 3'23": drumloop, the ADDAC's envelope follower modulating Doepfer WASP filter
3'23" - 4'59": drumloop, experimenting with different sample rates and startpoints
4'59" - 11'13": TV-sample, eight and a half minutes long… at this file length, startpoint addressing is not 100% precise, but still very close - which adds some nice little extra randomness
11'14" - 12'31": another drumloop, experimenting with different sample rates and startpoints

Kudos to Andre! applause thumbs up

Damn I'm all out of room in my 1st 6u case I have in the works. I really like this module. I'm getting a lot of ideas of what this thing can do. Now I need another 6u case before filling up my 1st one.

Cool video applause and cool module! Rockin' Banana!

Great video!

I have the flu at the moment so sorry if Im not forming the question correctly -

Can this act like Travellizer in Reaktor or Sampler in Ableton Live? What I mean is can you set sample start and end points and kind of scrub thru the buffer with CV? That would just blow my mind!

If you loaded 64 basic waveforms like the ones from Malstrom and Absynth's LFO's, could you use this module as a digital LFO? With the sample rate knob controling LFO rate? with the output multi'ed and then input'ed into the file access gate in hmmm.....

How about basic wavetable stuff?!?

Is the looping capable of any of this hmmm.....

If it is, I will take two This is fun!

I hung out with Andre in Lisbon and asked these same questions. He said even though he didn't have the time to test it in practice, that the processing in the module was fast enough to do this in theory.
I'd be really interested in seeing a demo of this, if someone has the patience to create the wavetables.

this looks really good. I hope there will be an EU distributor soon..

That is easily done. But you would have to carefully decide what wave-files you put on the card. I just grabbed some random files that seemed worth checking, converted them to 22kHz/mono and copied them onto the card.

Not sure, but i'll try when i find the time. One thing i noticed is that changing loop size also shifts the startpoint sometimes. Not sure if i'm doing anything wrong though.

I'm considering getting the A-185-2 precision adder for… uhm, precision. Good experience with that thing, anyone?

I use it to split CV to different VCOs and it works. But i do not know, if it could help with the wav.player seriously, i just don't get it

Am I the only one that doesn´t think that module isn´t great? seriously, i just don't get it

As far as results I think it isn´t so special

So I´ll keep saving for the octatrack instead...not euro but I´m sure it will worth the money

I agree about looplength & startpoint accuracy being important.
I thought the demo above was pretty cool, but it does call into question this accuracy.

It has me thinking about how I could use other things that I already have to patch up something similar for my purposes, but with different strengths & weaknesses to this implementation.
I'm thinking that clocking my SP-404 from Flame Clockwork and sending the output of the sampler to Blacet I/O or Cwejman AP-1 for envelope following will get me where I would want to go with the Wav Player.
The SP-404 does include a manual looplength effect among other things.

I'd also love to see a demo of this. I'm hoping for some kind of pseudo-granular sample playback.

here is another demo...
ultra-small patch: only the wav-player and an a-155.
shifting the start-point and controlling the sample rate.

nice walkaround!
I got an ESX and machinedrum UW (and even an emax!) so there´s no reason to want something like this...my sampler needs are covered by far

seriously, i just don't get it Just got mine and had to email Andre.
"Error" light...with the files/card that came with.
What am I doing wrong ?!
Damn...
AntSev
First (assuming you are on a PC), right click the file name, go to properties, then go to the summary tab.

Does it say:
audio sample size 16 bit
channels 1 (mono)
audio sample rate 22kHz
bunkdata
When I get errors, I will copy the files to the hard drive and reformat the card and recopy them back. It usually works. I have noticed that this module is doesn't seem to like it when you save edited files to the card and then delete the extra files created (e.g. Like what sound forge does). It seems to just like a simple drag and drop. Hope this helps!

Wow this is right up my alley, just saw this today. Some stuff is gonna get the axe to make room for this.

A quick reply from Andre (++ for service !!) and I'm in.

Would have been cool to see a 1v/oct, but I'm sure that is tricky/expensive. If it had could have nearly replaced my V-Synth... nearly.

time sefari can act like travelizer:

Thanks a lot for the demo.
Looks like it can do the job pretty well.
Ive already ordered it wink
Cant wait to mess with it.
thisoldhouse
yes, being able modulate a sample's loop size and start point with CV control is awesome.

I've also enjoyed putting 8 (or any number!) separate chords in a particular order on 1 card, putting it in the wav player and cycling through the files one after the other with each new gate signal from a sequencer

you can then have different cards for different songs ready to go for performances!

thanks andre!

Please forgive my post in the Eurorack section of the site - I didn't realise we had specific manufacturer forums (last time I use my forking phone to browse Muffs). very frustrating

Looks like an interesting module. I might be up for one when I get my second case. Looks like a lot of fun - thanks for the demos.

It's also very bling! applause

Here's one that's a bit different than the others, in that it utilizes the ADDAC WAV player to make dark ambient "bowels of hell" type effects.

This demo is made from the audio from a certain unmentioned song that's currently a popular "worst song ever" meme. The song was processed it through Paul's Extreme Sound Stretch, and then split into 30 1 minute parts. Sampling rate was manually manipulated, other stuff was sequenced via a Z8000 (that I also was manipulating some). The sound was filtered (Doepfer A-107) and went through a deep reverb (Lexicon MPX-1).

Just goes to show that loops aren't the only thing this device is capable of. zombie

I'm toying with the idea of getting the wav player. I never use a computer in my music, but need to check out how easy it is to prepare the wav files. What program do you people use to turn the stereo 44/48khz files into 22khz mono files? help

I'd love to hear/see some more examples of what people are doing with this module. I've watched & listened to all the official ones, and the ones I can find here and on Youtube, and I'm largely impressed.

I know what I want to do with it, but am still a little hesitant with regards to non-zero-crossing clicks and whatnot.

Sell me smile
stk
A couple more questions. I am 98% sold on this one wink
I'm talking about the v2 ones currently being sold by AH.

1) Can the currently playing sample be retriggered from it's start point via a gate/trig?
2) Is reverse playback supported? Is it under CV control?

Thanks again,
sk

I've been having some problems with my .wav player. I have to hit the reset button alot.

Anybody else experiencing this?
stk
I find it crashes on some wavs more than others. Haven't discovered why, it's just a little flaky seriously, i just don't get it

Mine seems to be related to the card reader.

I've been trying to get ahold of Addac but they only respond to some of my emails. Spam Filter? screaming goo yo

I'm really considering one of these modules. Has anyone run into issues converting the .wavs in a Mac based environment? I imagine it wouldn't matter as long as the .wavs are formatted correctly.

my .wav player freaks out on certain files sometimes, sometimes i have to keep skipping or reset to get it to play them.
bodo
I had the same thing happening to some files for some strange reason. When I reformatted the SD card, and copied the files back again, it was all fine. seriously, i just don't get it

Maybe it has to do with the fact that SD cards are not really meant to use in real time, I don't know.
JeremyLemos
Yeah... I played a show relying on the wav player heavily and I thought I was going to have to cancel... I love using it, but I don't think it will be reliable enough for live...

Got some more sd cards. Formatting on the digital camera was lame as it left some kind of driver file, doing it with a pc was fine. Pretty sure its playing all the files, kinda hard to tell. I am using a cheap ass san disk card i got at walgreens and i have no problems. I do have odd behavoir when i switch between cv and manual control. Glitches out sometimes and i have to flip the switches. Dont think i would make it the cornerstone of my live setup at this time, sure is fun tho
mafouka
Anyone want to format a .wav player file naming script? It'd sure save some time!
Matos
anyone want to help me? useds the cleaner app. It just seems to eject the card. used audacity, made 3 wavs titled a.wav, b.wav, etc. 16 bit mono 22mhz ...still get an error light.
mafouka
Homie, did you make sure file "b.wav" is bellow 500kb? Otherwise my PC ass ain't too sure other than you might have a bunk card. I've trialed softwares to format the .wav's and still had en error light. Try a different software perhaps? I like dBpoweramp Batch converter.
Matos
Thanks, I figured it out. The cleaner software was just unintuitive. I thought you cleaned the card once after format and that was it. I didn't realize every time you load something you use it to clean off whatever mysterious files and then you remove the card. There's no animation or prompting. You just drop it on and it ejects it.
drumasaurusrex
Hey there,

I just got a .WAV Player and everything work EXCEPT the envelope follower. I emailed Andre a couple of times, but have not received any response.
When I power on the module, the red LED in the envelope follower section lights up bright and remains lit. The CV-out jack, puts out a constant high voltage that does not vary with the amplitude of audio signal (constant signal even if not playing any samples). All of the other functions on the module work fine, and for the other sections, the LED brightness' change relative to the voltage level.
I *REALLY* want to get the envelope follower working correctly, and I am hoping someone here has some insight for things I can try. I am mostly ignorant about arduino stuff, and as such my troubleshooting efforts have focused on double-checking connections trying different settings, different SD cards and other banal/stupid things.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance. And Cheers.
__ag
Drumasaurusrex, i've just Pm'd you regarding the issue!
duck1887
Hi, I hope this is an ok place to ask. I got a used .WAV player recently and it's a version 1 (excuse me, v. 001). What exactly are the differences between it and v.2? Thanks!
