It's great fun! Exceptionally good for short blippy sequences.
I am not sure in the 909 but you may need to activate the midi out somehow.. it's in the manual somewhere!

For the people who don't have the 909 manual:
I had a go at this last night and you have to press the "ext instr" button while in pattern write mode.
It's a seperate sequence line, so you can have your 909 drums seperate from what you're sending out the midi-out.

Very fun!

started sequencing with an Atari ST 1040 and Steinberg midi sequencer it was great! rock solid!
mac G-3 Cubase the most crash! unstable piece of crash! pooh coding ever! crash! crash! crash! crash!

I am considering Ableton , I have read that 7 was stable and 8 is a pain?
no offence is intended to Live 8 fans. I'd like to know your opinions about Liv3 8.

I'm waiting for time to pass, and to become more proficient with Reason Record

as confirmed by Colin of Sequentix, that was just to trade up for a new model with an improved backlight.

One of my earliest memories of someone using a sequencer was Jan Hammer on the tune No Fear from his Like Children album. I listened to that one zillions of times with my headphones cranked to the point of pain.....
I believe he used one of the early Oberheim DS-2 sequencers.

I was sure he was getting a brand new one when I saw this one on Vemia. It is hard to replace it with something better! w00t
Btw someone mentioned MAW, Kenny Dope is a heavy MPC3K user and of course one of the first to get the LE's when they were out! Guinness ftw!

The Stranglers used an EDP Spider/Wasp combination on Black & White and The Raven. Used the duo live as well. eek! Not sure what Dave Greenfield used on the Meninblack, but it sounds somewhat more sophisticated.

As far as I can tell, that was The Stranglers only use of sequencers.

Amon tobin uses kyma which has sequencing amongst many other things.
