What about the Grove audio GMS-710?

Post by Putte » Tue Aug 27, 2019 1:23 pm

Any opinions on the VC-ADSR/VCA GMS-710, from Grove audio? I´d sure like to hear some owners sharing their experiences, but I can´t find anything on the forum.

I´ve got a rather big system with nine .com Q109, three krisp1 ADSR/VCA, one krisp1 VC-ADSR/VCA, and a week ago I got a SSL 1230.

To fill the spaces I have left, I meant to add another krisp1 VC-ADSR/VCA and also a Moon M511c. I absolutely love that Krisp1 machine, but I can´t see the need for two of them. I also got a bit of a hang up on the M511c A D R S order. All in all, I wasn´t sure about them.

Then, I got the idea to squeeze in another 2U oscillator, which means I got to make room for it. Every other space is planned for, so I started to search 1U EGs with something extra. That´s how I ended up on the Grove audio homepage. So, don´t be shy now…. thoughts on the GMS-710?

I haven't tried the Grove 710.

I have the SSL 1235 Envelope / VCA Combo and like it a lot:

I also like the STG Envelope Generator, it is very versatile since it has dual outputs that produce different shapes, wide timing range, several modes, a gate delay in some settings, and LFO funtionalityu:

No experience with the 710 so I can't comment on the EG portion of it, but I had the Grove 1MU quad VCA/panner for a while. If the VCA in the 710 is the same circuit, it's a nice sounding one. A little louder than a Q108 and some nice dirt when used with an STG mixer. I love the Oakley ADSR/VCA! I have two of them. Report back if you end up getting one.

Ba1, I promise I´ll do that. Doesn´t seem to be many GMS-710 owners out there. Not sure how long it´s been produced. I only have the Grove audio dual LFO, which is a great quality module.
