Author What’s in your vintage poly synth setup!?
3hands
After seeing the favourite polysynth thread, I realized I love all of my vintage toys!!!

I currently have:

Ensoniq ESQ1
Oberheim Matrix 6
Korg DW8000
Roland Jupiter 6
Roland JX3p

So what’s in your vintage polysynth system!!??
The Real MC
Moog Memorymoog Plus w/dBM MIDI upgrade
Moog Polymoog
Alesis Andromeda
Oberheim OBX w/Encore MIDI retrofit
Oberheim OBSX w/Electrongate MKC-1 MIDI retrofit
Oberheim FVS (awaiting restoration)
Korg DSS-1 (awaiting restoration)
Oberheim Matrix 6 (awaiting restoration)

I travel light . . . ESQ-1 and Xpander
commodorejohn
Yamaha DX7 (original model)
Yamaha V50
Roland D-50
Roland JX-10
Ensoniq SQ-80
Korg DW-8000 (needs fixin')
DK Synergy (likewise)
Rhodes Chroma Polaris (and again)
E-mu Proteus MPS (one more for the road)

Plus some MIDI modules:

Yamaha TG33
Yamaha FB01
Roland MT-32
Roland SC-55k
Korg X5DR
LektroiD
Juno 1
Juno 6
Juno 106
Jupiter 6
JX10
JD800
Casio CZ1

I also have a few newer toys, such as the JP8000 SH201, Korg Z1, and a heap of rack gear...

That said, my real vintage gear lies in my collection of monos, dating back to the early '70s.

at my vintage synth nerdiest:

crumar orchestrator
sq80, vdx-sd
asr-10, mirage
sci 6-trak
alpha juno 2
jx8p
dw8000
kawai k3

Ensoniq:

Mirage (rack)
SQ-80 (keyboard)
EPS classic (rack)
EPS 16+ (keyboard)

EMU:
Emulator IV (keyboard)

Roland:
Juno 106
JV-1080

Not sure if the ensoniq samplers count... Also I know this doesn't count, but these are awesome pieces of "vintage" gear I own: Korg DVP-1, Roland DC-30, Yamaha SPX-90

Used to own: ESQ-1 (with broken screen), Alpha Juno (twice!), Kawai K3
Feinstrom
I started in the 80s, that must have had an impact on my taste...
- Korg Trident (simply soooo majestic)
- Chroma Polaris (yes, it CAN do pads!)
- Roland MKS-30 (Roland sound without that Alpha-Juno sound)
- Bit 01 (I prefer it to Oberheims for Oberheim-ish sounds)
- Korg EX-8000 (poor-and-clever-man's PPG)
- Kurzweil 150 (that "Touch Piano" patch!)
- a few stringers (not really synths, I know)

Oh, in these days probably my Roland JD-800 (1991), Yamaha YS200 (1988) and maybe even Yamaha AN1x (1997) could count as "vintage", but I'd consider them modern-ish...

Cheers,
Bert

i guess, 20—22 years old is not vintage yet?

so nothing. i'm waiting when it becomes vintage and prices go up Mr. Green

previous incarnations of my home studio: pretty much every classic polysynth made.

current setup: PPG 2.3
DiscoDevil
I've sold all of my vintage polys with the exception of the MKS50. I currently have a PS3100 in the studio which belongs to my music partner.

Roland JX-10

I love seeing a lot of people with ESQ1s, and JX3ps.. which are probably two of the most under rated polys ever!! And I also love my DW for basslines, and random mid 80s Korg weirdness!
tehyar
Micro Q
Prophet 12 (discontinued, so "vintage" razz )
gslug
Oberheim Matrix 6R (new toy!)
Roland Jupiter 4 (brought dead. Need to fix.)
Roland Jupiter 6
Roland Juno 106 (2 80017As died weeks after I got this. Replaced them all with clones.)
Roland MKS30 (waiting for the 80017As to die. Just got a broken PG200.)
Roland MKS50 (brought dead, resistor array had a pin snapped off. Cracked PCB too! Lots of bodge wires, but it works.)
Roland U220
Yamaha DX7 (X2 cap let the magic smoke out. Fixed.)
Yamaha TX81Z

Do samplers count?
E-MUEmulator II (brought dead, mainly resurrected but currently only 5 voice)
Ensoniq EPS16 plus

If samplers are coining I also have an Ensoniq Mirage, and an S50. God I want an emulator II

in the last 2 years i replaced most of my vintage analog synths with new stuff, swapped a d50 for a d05, but still keep my dx7, dw8000 and an sq80.

I think we are supposed to be embarrassed by this one Mr. Green, but I have one, too. Or had, I guess. It started acting really wonky and is in the junk closet now. Really enjoy a lot of its sounds.

Only an SQ-80, unless you count an old Proteus 3/XR as vintage; it's nearly 30 years old so it may very well be.

I've owned several others, but I've never felt too attached to any.

Also have a Nord Rack 2X, Emu MP7 and Vintage Pro, but neither has achieved vintage status yet, IMO. Ask me again in 5 years smile

Haha! Yes, I am slightly embarrassed too, but I paid £20 for it and it sounds good.

It's a wonderful machine, but reliability isn't exactly great. I want a Fairlight...
