Cheap 1Frame rack case

Don't know if anyone else would be interested, but I found a rack case at Thomann which looks like it could fit the bill:
http://www.thomann.de/se/thon_rack_4he_eco_ii_compact.htm

It's 4HE so one could fit a 1HE multifx in there too (provided it is not deeper than 23cm).
Couldn't say if the case is sturdy enough for airport handling, but other than that I think it would be fine (but don't take my word for it).

Hey Arlaharen ,

these cases are rather heavy so check the weight first so you know you have enough kg for the rest of your gear (you are allowed 20 kg).
I have a 7u thomman of 7 kg :-) same design as yours.

In such a size it is much safer and better to take it on board a flight as a carry on.
You can have actually more space as a carry on and you could put your stuff in a lighter case as it does not have to survive the airport cargo handling .

But yes this case can survive the airport handling .. but can your modular :-).

have a nice day

Thanks for the input!

According to Thomann this case is "super light plastic", what ever that means...

Guess this could be interesting too:

I think that one is about twice as deep as it needs to be for Bugboats,
but it it close to perfect for a regular Blacet/Paia Frac rack.

Then perhaps this is a better idea?

He he, no that was actually the mixer rack case...
http://www.thomann.de/se/thon_19_koffer_6_he.htm

But 8kg for something that is 55 x 19.5 x 30.5cm?

I guess something like this, but for 6U would be better:

The thing I don't like about those big mixer ones is the huge footprint - I used to have one and I felt it was a bit of a waste of space..

The smaller ones you linked are basically compact full flight cases and these always tend to be quite weighty. Although, worth noting that my frames & modules are really not very heavy (though the external PSU is a bit..)

Back at the start of releasing the BugModular I really was wanting to get a custom portable case (something for carry-on luggage ie no need for super sturdy/heavy) but never found a good way to do it...

Guess that what I want, doesn't really exist, leightweight rack case that is also very sturdy.

I can see why.

In the end I think I'll go with one of these rack cases, but I would like something less bulky...

Great!
But 8kg is a bit on the heavy side isn't it?
Arlaharen
lol

Got this from Thomann today:
"sadly i send you an wrong weight at my last mail.
The correct weight of this item is 4,7kg."

4,7kg is a lo better than 8kg!
