Currently I have been playing Doom 3 on PC. One of the best shooters I have played in a long time. What happened to FPS? Most of them these days try to copy Call of Duty.
I loved Fear and Fear 2. Fear 3 copies COD and sucks.
Anyone recommend any FPS like that of Doom 3, Fear 1, Half-Life etc?
I'm not looking for the run-of-the-mill mindless shoot em up, but one with exploration, puzzles, and an immersive atmosphere . |

I had Bioshock but hated it. It was too open for my tastes. I hate having to back track 100s of times. I'm very much a fan of levels. Also Bioshock felt too much like an RPG.

I feel much the same about Bioshock myself, but many people love it, and "exploration" and "an immersive atmosphere" made me think of it, plus the scripted sequences that are a direct descendant of Half-Life.

The thing is that I like exploring the levels. Like, multiple different ways to complete a level. but I don't want the whole game to be open ended.

Well I know Im late to this particular party but I dont play online so....
Just finished the single player of Modern Warfare 3! JeeZus! 6:43min There is NO value in this game for single player folk! My brother bought it for moi as a Christmas gift and I admit the story is interesting if you played the others. Lots of WTF moments, big 'splosions lots of Woah! But then... end!
Last week I re-played Brutal Legend - Million times more fun!
Back to trying to get Duke to jump thru gears when he is mini - Im stuck there and it sux!

Bioshock 3 comes out in August I believe, I'm personally watering at the mouth for it! Also any of the Half Life games are pretty great.

It sucks indeed but at least Levine has his hands back on the controls! Im sure the delay is just to make it cooler too!
Not that I disliked 2, I know lots of folk did but I enjoyed it!
